    What makes Walker more valuable than Ward? Ward had the better year last year by far. Before that, Walker had the better years-but if Ward regresses back to his usual year and Walker keeps declining, then Ward will likely be slightly better. Both can play 3 positions-Walker the 3 in the infield, Ward the two in the OF and 1B. What is there to justify eating a million by dropping Ward and signing Walker? Plus, Daryle Ward is a PH specialist who understands his role. Although, Ward is technically DLee's backup, barring injury, he will not get many starts. Walker still considers himself a starter, is not an accomplished pinch hitter (the role he would need to fill as Ward's replacement), and is not worth being the third utility infielder off the bench. I am happy that the Cubs are finally using their own players to fill utility roles. Theriot and Cedeno are talented enough to be valuable contributors while also keeping the starters from being complacent (for fear of losing playing time).

    Hmmm, this game isn't on the MLB.TV schedule. It only shows Gameday Audio (Royals broadcast).

    Lou might pull a fast one and have Angel start that game. Clearly, he doesn't want the cardinals to have two shots at Hill in a short time span... He's right. TLR wouldn't do it and the Cubs don't need to give them any advantage. The Cards held out Looper, in a scheduled Grapefruit League start, against the Mets because he will be pitching against them on April 4th.

    You've been reading Gordon Wittenmyer. Wood hasn't even pitched in MLB for 10 years... Anyway, anything he gives is gravy. Pardon me, he started in 98 which would make this his 9th year, which makes 11 trips to the DL even more sick. Sorry for the egregious error. And by the way, I've never read Gordon. Anyway, gravy is hard to give from the DL. Actually, he's only pitched in 8 seasons (he missed all of 1999 to TJS). Whittenmyer, of the Suntimes, has been falsely reporting that Wood will be on the DL for the 11th time in 10 seasons...

    I got tickets for my May games today! I think the expected delivery depends on the printing... The email said they would be mailed after 3/13. Most likely, you'll be getting them soon.

    Cedeno has already made the team. For all intents and purposes, the roster is set. Miller will, most likely, be the fifth starter and Guzman will get the last bullpen spot. There's no room for Todd.
