  1. Rich Hill has been awesome. I don't know what you're talking about! :D that's why it's in quotes. People keep calling Z the ace but he isn't!
  2. He's not the ace. that's why it's in quotes
  3. Langerhans out to Lee 25 pitches in the first inning!
  4. Rothschild to the mound it has to be deflating to have your "ace" look this bad
  5. :x :x :x :x :x He's going to have to suck it up! Get out of the damn inning and stop wasting pitches
  6. Lou just said in the pregame that Z may have to go longer than normal (he was talking about pitch count). Let's hope Z is efficient.
  7. My guess: Lou's helping to foster leaders in the clubhouse; he said during ST that he would speak to several guys about being vocal leaders. Floyd made the right choice but that doesn't mean that Piniella wouldn't have overruled him if it was off the mark. It might seem far fetched but I think there is a calculated method to Lou's madness. Lou sees Cliff as a leader and someone who can make good quick decisions. I saw a Cliff Floyd interview on CSN, following the first Padres game; After Soriano got injured, Floyd said he rushed into the clubhouse to get his glove so that he was prepared to go into the game quickly. He was also wearing his spikes (even though he had been told he'd have the whole day off). It might seem like the obvious move for any player but I think it's fair to say that a lot of guys would have been immobilized by watching Soriano get injured... I also think that decision, coupled with some of the heads up plays we've seen Floyd make on the bases, exemplifies his ability to quickly assess a situation and make the right move (maybe a stretch but I think they are related and that's why Lou chose him).
  8. It's fair to ask a guy whether his players are unmotivated when they have lousy fundamentals and seem lackadasical. The team didn't know there were 3 outs in the sixth inning of last night's game, and had to be waved off the field by the umpires. Hopefully for the sake of my friends who are Phillies fans, Manuel will be fired and they'll bring in a replacement who is actually competent. There's a difference between posing a question and telling him what he should do (throw a tirade to motivate players).
