  1. Nice to see one of our catchers throw someone out!
  2. He'll be watching from his office at Wrigley Field.
  3. Pie will be hitting 2 today. Soriano is our leadoff hitter.
  4. I'd love to see him hitting 5th. I don't understand everyone insisting he should be batting leadoff. The team is not winning with him batting leadoff and I seriously doubt they would be any worse if he moved to 5th. Theriot batting leadoff with Murton 2nd followed by Lee, Aram, and Soriano. It has possibilities. Do something, anything. The status quo is not working. I would hate to see him hitting 5th. In 8 full ML seasons, Soriano has rarely shown the ability to hit well with RISP. All of his best offensive numbers are produced at leadoff. While it can be argued that he will probably only "leadoff" once a game, it's still pretty clear that he hits the best from the top of the order (and has his best OBP). I don't know if it's a simple matter of "comfort" or being at ease mentally or if he just can't hit a curveball... either way, I could see Aramis being pitched around quite a bit. I don't necessarily agree with this. You could pretty much say the same thing with any of our other hitters behind Aramis. Soriano is a bigger threat than anyone else that might hit behind Ramirez. I would agree with leaving Soriano at leadoff if we were winning. Unfortunately we're not. I think that it's happened in the past but Ram is an aggressive swinger; he doesn't walk that much. For the most part, Lou has been batting contact hitters behind Aramis. IMO, if Soriano were to hit fifth, pitchers would chose to IBB (or give the intentional-unintentional walk with balls so off the plate that Aramis wouldn't swing) because Soriano is easier to tackle (especially in terms of the strikeout).

  6. I heard that too. Took it more as, they wanted to make sure he was suspended for today, while figuring out the actual length. AP I also heard on the radio that Lou will have the opportunity to plead his case before the final determination is made.
  7. Froeming was holding on to Lou's jersey. I think this suspension is ridiculous
  8. I don't think the recall of Pie is a signal that the Cubs are rebuilding (nor should it be). They can still make moves to improve the team; like trading Jones and others. Realistically, every team in the NLC is still in contention.
  9. I want Felix to hit above .125 in Chicago. He's going to be given the opportunity... I should clarify my previous post, Hendry said he wants to give Felix the opportunity to stay permanently (instead of calling this move temporary while someone goes on the DL). Obviously, this means that before Ward can return the Cubs will have to move some dead weight from the 25 man roster... Speaking of which, the Cubs should also be looking to trade or release Miller soon.
  10. Hendry just said, on The Score, that Daryle has a hip problem. The move makes room for Pie.
  11. Lou has been suspended today. Trammell will be managing today (at least outwardly). Hendry is on The Score right now. Ward to the DL. He wants Felix to stay permanently.
  12. Felix has been recalled and is playing CF today.
  13. The Score is reporting Pie is in CF and batting 2nd today!
  14. Smoltz wasn't going to pitch today against any team without a significant improvement in his finger injury.
  15. Suntimes I would have let them file the grievance! He didn't earn a ML spot, didn't pitch at all this year, and will be on track for free agency! That's counterproductive for the team...
  16. Randy Bush probably had a press conference because situations like this demand upper management oversight. Lou has obviously lost control of the team, and since Jim apparently wasn't available, Randy was the next best thing. At first I assumed they'd traded Barrett inside of two minutes, though. Hendry is out of town.
  17. The more I think about it, I think Barrett deserves blame! Carlos went up to the clubhouse while MB was on the bench. Obviously, Barrett ended up following Z and a second fight ensued. That was unnecessary. MB has played horribly this year. Hell, his stupidity turned an already bad outing into a rout (coupled with some of the other dumb things he's done in recent games...)
  18. I think it was a threat to bring up players and not play some people already on the roster... He specifically spoke about getting "people who can catch the damn ball." Barrett and Murton top that list.
  19. And now some idiot fan is on the field
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-uLUlyWSi8
  21. Well that was quick. So is Cubs.com surprisingly
  22. Barrett was still on the bench when Z went into the clubhouse. I think Z went down and trashed the place. They probably went down to calm him.
