  1. Alright, let's get a first inning lead so Rich Hill can relax a bit.
  2. Last July. I thought this sounded absurd, but it's amazingly true. Absolutely amazing. The players union would have decapitated Z if he actually signed this deal. Here's the podcast (the clip is about 5/8 through the clip): http://espn-mp3-od.andomedia.com/espnpod2/espnradio/waddlesilvy/waddlesilvy070806.mp3
  3. I'm not sure where to post this, but we're talking about Bruce Levine in here, so... Bruce Levine reports Zambranos agent offered a $38M,4 year deal last and the cubs said no. I assume that's just a lie. Right? I saw it on another board and just about bit my tongue off.
  4. Hahahaha  He is a professional athlete, if he can't handle the pressure he should work as a toll both operator or something. Jeez, the excuses are already starting to roll before the game even starts. Would be nice to see him step up and force Lou to play him. I'm not on board this "too much pressure" bandwagon, but it's ridiculous to expect Murton to succeed when he plays every four or five days.
  5. Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, Floyd... Guys that have had good power in their career all with power outages. It's not a coincidence. All signs point to Gerald Perry. Yeah, but the offense has also been more consistent as opposed to the feast or famine we usually get. I'll take the feast or famine 2004 offense over this one any day (whether you include Nomar or not).
  6. Makes me wonder if he walked out on them too... what..... Elipseses...
  7. I get what you are saying but Patterson deserves to be up here... then again... so does pie and soto. BTW Lou will Start Murton, Murton owes Wandy. Deserving to be up here is relative. Compared to either Pie or Soto, he doesn't. I'm not sure his numbers in the PCL really warrant a callup regardless of what Pie and Soto are doing, however. Perhaps I dont understand what you mean. You dont think .299 14hr 62 rbis .360 obp and an .830 ops is not deserving, regardless of what pie or soto are doing? It's deserving, I guess, it's just those numbers aren't all that impressive in the PCL. There's quite a few guys OPSing similarly to E-Patt. When you couple this with the fact that he'll probably be playing outfield in the bigs, his numbers don't look all that impressive.
  8. Really? ...really? What I mean is if most teams had the Catching situation that the Cubs had they would have given Soto a shot by now. I am not saying Soto is one of the better Catchers in the league now. As for the first part, I think this is pretty obvious. In that case, you're likely correct.

  10. Seconded. His defense has been a big disappointment. While it's true that Cub pitchers often don't do a good job holding runners on first, Kendall's noodle arm only compounds the problem. The fact that his arm is weak isn't the worst part, it's that it's not accurate at all. More often than not, the throw is on the shortstop side of second.
  11. Really? ...really?
  12. I called it. What a disappointing player Dopirak has turned out to be.
  13. No more Dopirak. or blanco to the 60 day dl? No more Ohman. Wishful thinking. Actually, would cutting ties with Ohman as well as a Rapada call up be that shocking?
  14. Barring an injury to Pie, I think this is stupid in any event.... True.
  15. He needs to play every single day. If not, this is stupid.
  16. However you'd like to phrase it, Dunn is a better asset than Soriano.
  17. That'd be something if we got Dunn. Not too often that one of your good players gets hurt, fans cry as they fear the season may be over, and then you get a better player than the one you lost.
  18. Gah. At the very least, I hope Patterson plays every single day, regardless of the matchups.
  19. Was a decision made? Nothing official yet, no. I still think it will be Pie and the E-Patt blurb was just a snafu.
  20. Was thinking the same. Seems like he hasn't hit any homeruns since April though, when he started out hot. DeRosa has no marginal power to provide. His last HR was June 27, and prior to that was June 3. He has 5 extra base hits since the end of June. I'm simply going off what is probably the team's thinking.
  21. Well, we need a leadoff hitter...At least that's their thinking. We have one. He's that little guy who's been playing SS for us. How bats second? DeRosa would be the easy choice if we didn't need what marginal power he has batting in the middle of the order.
