  1. last year: Top 48 average score per start = 12.08 Top 80 average score per start = 11.39 this year: Top 48 average score per start = 17.39 top 80 average score per start = 15.63 top 120 average score per start = 14.53 I think the dramatic TBA deductions overnight are making the scoring seem lower - but its not!
  2. Position and origin are good too! This could be more fun if we do desire and prediction.
  3. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070522&content_id=1979200&vkey=draft2007&fext=.jsp ???
  4. I have three.
  5. make me an offer if you see someone that could help you. want young players and prospects.
  6. Why is it that year after year even with new players, they cannot do simple things like hit the cutoff man, run the bases full speed (Soriano looked like he was limping to me but still . . . ), throw strikes. I'm so sick of watching this [expletive]. And I really don't want to see Murton in the outfield anymore - he sucks. And his weak popup homerun doesn't impress me either.
  7. Check out Peavy's K of Pujols on BBTN. sick sick pitch.
  8. for any of you that aren't BP subscribers:
  9. I missed the interview. Do you think he mentioned to Lou that the reason for the inconsistency might be the .250 obp from the top two spots? Also, it appears the rumors of the set lineup are exaggerated. If only Theriot can handle SS, Theriot, Murton, Lee sounds good. Murton is still on the team, right?
  10. I think its clear who is the best reliever, at least until his arm dies, but who is the worst? Who is the worst per dollar? I actually think Ohman has been kind of unlucky so I am going to go with Eyre. Its so close with Eyre, Howry, and Cotts though.
  11. Seriously, I'm in another league and the whining, moaning and complaining is ridiculous. I really appreciate you guys. Except Shane, because he's a deadbeat. :D
  12. Howry and Eyre both look to be on the Mike Remlinger career path. Nice job by Wuertz today but the Cubs bullpen is not good enough.

This will be a bye week for all teams. The championship series will be shortened to one week.
  14. A full day of baseball! Now the season starts for real!
  15. He moved to New York?
  16. could lose a game with 28 hits when their leadoff hitter goes 21-4 and scores 12 runs . .. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=270313129
  17. That Halla turned off Raffi and put on the Smiths? Also, rate my team: This is a 30 team league: 1b Pujols 2b Utley SS Tejada 3b Wright OF Sizemore OF Beltran OF Bay C Mauer SP Santana SP Halladay SP Oswalt SP Carpenter SP Zambrano RP Putz RP Wagner RP Wood
  18. One odd bit of information to come out of Cubs’ camp was that the team may demote Rich Hill, who is probably their second-best starter, should both Mark Prior and Wade Miller be available to start later in the year. Set aside for the moment that Prior and Miller have been simultaneously healthy for about 20 minutes since 2004, making this something of a theoretical exercise. Who in their right minds would look at Wade Miller and Rich Hill and decide that they actually prefer Miller? Hill abused Triple-A last year to the tune of a 6-to-1 K/BB and more than 12 strikeouts every nine innings. With the Cubs, he struck out 90 and walked 39 in 99 frames, with a high home run rate (one every six innings) in the bad news department. Miller hasn’t thrown more than 91 innings since ’04, and has 84 strikeouts and 65 walks in 112 2/3 innings the past two years. I don’t think he’s a terrible pitcher—if healthy, he deserves a chance to start for someone—he’s just not the pitcher that Hill is, and any starts given to him instead of Hill push the Cubs further away from October.
  19. #$@%@ is not allowed? Why on Earth not? This appears in the Sunday funnies for crying out loud! Or do you just mean in the context of say Shut the @#$@%@~ up? (where its clear what the characters mean) I think we need ST game summaries somewhere so we don't have to read all that crap to know what happened in the game . . . I guess the boxscore is good enough but some details would be nice to see without 45 pages of arguing about whether we should care or not.
  20. draft is started!
  21. the draft is going to be cancelled.
  22. better get their stuff together because that site is awfully slow right now.
  23. now we can talk about him! :D :) :( :o
  24. We aren't having the draft in the middle of a weekday afternoon I hope?
  25. I finally got to the bottom of this and here's the deal. The pitchers projections do not include TBA. Thus, every pitcher's projection is much too high. For instance, Johan Santana allowed 310 TBAs last year. so his projection of 997 is 310 points too high. You can probably guess that most pitchers allowed more TBAs than Santana and adjust their projection down that way. Personally, I don't put much stock in the projections anyway but it is annoying that the players are preranked incorrectly. I am trying to get that adjusted but the fellow answering my emails is not exactly warm.
