  1. Weurtz strikes out Aybar to end the inning. 7-4 Braves at the end of 7. Due up: Ramirez, Lee, Jones
  2. Wuertz in for the Cubs, and he's given up a run in the 7th already-1st and 2nd, 2 outs now.
  3. Pierre with a bloop that was caught, and Theriot grounded out on a well-executed play by the Braves-Giles went into the grass and threw it to McBride for the out. 6-4 Braves after 6 1/2.
  4. Pagan with a sharp ground ball, but it was right where Renteria was standing..1 out.
  5. LH Macay McBride is in to pitch for the Braves, and Pagan is pinch-hitting for the Cubs.
  6. Ohman sets them down 1-2-3 in the 6th. It is 6-4 Braves after 6, with a pinch-hitter, Pierre, and Theriot up for the Cubs.
  7. --Joe Paterno If he, or anyone for that matter, believes that Penn State has half the history of Notre Dame then he really is completely senile. another golden domer crawls out of the woodwork Well, the statement of half is stretching it, but Penn State certainly does not have the overall history of ND. Overall Record ND-811-266-42 (75.3 win percent (excluding ties)) Penn State-771-339-42 (69.4 win percent) Overall Titles ND-11 Penn State-2 Titles Since Paterno took over ND-4 Penn State-2 When comparing overall history, Penn State has been a very good football team-not in the class of ND though-Penn State has the 3rd best overall winning percentage in the Big 10. Now-does that give ND an advantage on Saturday? Of course not-but there are significant differences in their overall histories. Penn State got robbed in at least two years IMO too, 69 and 94. In 69 they had Franco Harris AND Lydell Mitchell....wow. FWIW, I submit 1993, when FSU and ND both finished 11-1, ND beat FSU in head to head play, and the pollsters gave it to FSU under the little-known "if one coach already has a title, then give it to the other out of sympathy" clause. Wouldn't have been so infuriating except that in 1989 Miami and ND were in the same situation (Miami beat ND, two one-loss teams) and they gave it to Miami, as well they should have, then reversed their logic four years later. My problem with that is that Penn State won every game each of those years. That's all you can ask and if you lose a game you get what you get. PSU went undefeated in 1968, 1969, 1973 and 1994 and didn't win a national title in any of those years. Ok-even if you give PSU a title in every one of those years and don't give ND any of their disputed titles they don't have, ND still has 11 titles to PSU's 6.
  8. Soto strikes out-I know, it's only 7 at-bats, but the guy is looking completely overmatched at the plate right now (even his 1 hit traveled about 40 feet). I hope he will keep playing in September so I can see more of him, but his approach at the plate does not impress me whatsoever. BTW, Hudson did the old fake to third, fake to first pickoff throw twice in that at-bat, and the Braves announcer (I'm pretty sure it's actually Torberg) says that "If you sell that move correctly, it can be a great pickoff move."
  9. Cedeno with a grounder past the 1st baseman diving to his right! 1st and 3rd with 2 outs for Soto now.
  10. Murton follows with a 1st pitch single to right center-2 outs for Cedeno with Murton on 1st now.
  11. Ramirez looks at a 3-2 pitch that the Braves announcers think was a ball after the replay, but the ump rung him up as Ramirez started towards first.
  12. Ohman gets out of it. 6-3 Braves after 5.
  13. You're quite welcome :D. Yes, you have that accurately on Guzman. Most of the batters tonight Guz's pitches were right on the corners at the knees with a very good breaking ball, but he threw too many pitches when he got behind right down the middle. It looked like he was afraid to walk anybody, and then in the 4th he just lost it for a few batters, and that really hurt.
  14. Since Guzman didn't walk anybody, of course Ohman starts off his night by walking Andruw.
  15. Guzman strikes out Renteria for the 3rd time tonight, but Adam LaRoche absolutely drills a long HR to straightaway center..6-3 Braves with 1 out in the 5th, and Guzman's night is done. Guzmans's line-4.1 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 0 BB, 8 K, 76 Pitches-Hate to see that BB/K ratio and yet still was just knocked around the park tonight.
  16. Cubs go down 1-2-3 in the 5th. 5-3 Braves after 4 1/2.
  17. Giles pops up to Lee. 5-3 Braves after 4.
  18. Hudson strikes out on a beautiful pitch-2 outs for Giles now.
  19. Theriot misplays a possible DP, recovers to get the out at first-runners at 2nd and 3rd, 5-3 Braves now.
  20. Franceour with another hard hit ball to left-1st and 3rd now, still nobody out, and Guzman seems to have completely lost it. Ok, now he hit Aybar-bases are loaded.
  21. Mccann with a 1 hopper off the wall, scores 2. 4-3 Braves, runner on second, still nobody out.
  22. The first 2 Braves in the inning reach base, each on very hard hit ground balls-1st and 2nd, nobody out.
