Just what is the function of a manager? To sit in the dugout chewing his toothpick? No, it is to make sure his team has all the fundamentals down pat and then to make the game decisions needed. If Dusty had what is hurting on Michael, he would schedule PRACTICES for three or four hours before the game until the team got the fundamentals down pat. He is the one who should announce that Boys tomorrow we are going to have bunting drills for 4 hours or we are going to be in the cage for four hours only hitting to right field. The manager sets the tone and Dusty isn;t doing it!

Come on guys! All year long I have been reading about LACK of fire in the Cubs. Now we have a guy with that fire in his belly and you want to rip him about an attempted steal of third. Let's see we are 20 games below .500 and going nowhere. Riot is on second with 2 outs. He thinks strongly that he can steal third, possibly scoring on a bad throw, a error by a infielder, or a passed ball. He trys it and is just thrown out. Give him credit for having the FIRE to try it. If you would just watch him close enough you would see that he has smarts beyond most of the team. He is well schooled and knows when to swing at a pitch and when to take it. Reminds me of any of a number of Twins players. Aggressive and well schooled!

Jesus Christ, give the kid a break! He is learning where to go in foul territory on the pop ups. He also got the out at first on the grounder. If it wasn't for negative comments some of the people on here would be the silent type.

I don't care what hitting coach they get, but PLEASE get one quickly. While you are at it how about a pitching coach. These studs we have are super in AA-AAA but when they get here under Laughing Larry they stink.

Many mistakes in my opinion. 1. The coaching staff is terrible. Clines, Mathews, Rothchild are simply NOT getting the job done. This reflects on Dusty which means he also is not getting it done. Should have canned them all. 2. With better coaching we could have kept Cory and he would have improved with us rather than the O's. Didn't need Piere. 3. Letting Nomar leave. Stupid! 4. Counting on Lee to play almost the entire season. I wondered last winter what would happen if he went down, and he did. If we had a decent backup ( Nomer) Walker would be at second rather than Neifi and Hairston. 5 Jerking Walker around is right. Has as much heart as anyone on this team. 6. Not getting a right hand bat to alternate with Jones in right against leftys.. 7. Why do we have Blanco as backup catcher? He is closer to a sure out at the plate than anyone I have ever seen. 8. The signing of Neifi, Hairston, Rusch was pathetic. 58 years I have lived with this team, and I am embaressed. :oops: I am out for this year and possibly forever!
