  1. Tebow was recruited to play QB at Bama. Period.
  2. Defense, young pitching and overall team speed has been undervalued on the market for five or so years now and Beane and company have known this and exploited it. FWIW, offense is quite a bit up this season so far.
  3. They implemented an under center package this spring. I wouldn't expect to see much of it, though. As far as the game vs Tenn, I can promise you Urban will run up the score in that game if you give him a chance to. That's one thing Urban doesn't do often, he picks his spots to do it, but for the most part Tebow never played the fourth quarter, unlike *cough* some QB ~400 miles north of here. Sure Brantley, Moody and company would run up the score some in the fourth. If you can't stop the Gators' 4th string TB and backup QB they should be allowed to run it up. Not that Brantley and Moody suck or anything. Brantley's probably as good as a pro QB prospect as Tebow. Moody's probably the best NFL prospect among the Gators backfield (Demps and Rainey aren't really good ones).
  4. He threw tons of go routes down the sideline to Demps, Rainey, Murphy and Cooper last season (not many to Harvin, contrary to '08). He took at least four or five shots on 30+ go routes a game. As for taking snaps under center. How many did Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger and Joe Flacco take in college?
  5. With Bradley on the team there's always chance of a catch similar to Tanaka's in Major League II. If that's not enough reason to keep him on the roster then I don't know what is. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_CpCN41CZP9M/RnbRC7GWmgI/AAAAAAAAABc/V0TpawJgiT0/s320/Tanaka.JPG
  6. You couldn't be more wrong on number two. The stats may lie if you do not to notice that Tebow's throws themselves are more vertical oriented than anyone else's. Sure his guys gobble up YAC yardage, but three-fourths of Tebow's passes last season were 10 yards 8 yards or more downfield. Then the guys caught them and turned in quality YAC yardage. He also threw a higher percentage of 30+ yard passes than anyone else in the game. Tebow throws the ball down field. It's pretty simple. On the other hand nearly 9 out of 10 of McCoy's passes were within 8 yards of the line of scrimmage. The different is night and day and you've got it backwards. You and I both know the only game you watch closely was the UF/FSU game. That was pretty much the only game where Tebow didn't throw the ball down field 24/7. It could have something to do with playing in a monsoon and being up big you know. And you'd take Berry on FSU before Tebow next season? That's asinine. I'd be curious to see how Tebow does throwing to mostly covered receivers. I watched quite a bit of Florida last year and most of the time Tebow's targets were simply faster than a lot of the defenders they faced - leading to Tebow having really easy throws most of the year. I'm not sure he has the arm to make the tight, tough throws against NFL competition. But then again, I'm not sure McCoy has the arm either. Well almost no one in the Big XII plays coverage worth crap. Watching their defenses on TV doesn't do justice. The games I went to I was amazed about how big of throwing windows McCoy and UT's opponents had to throw into. I'd say Tebow had no better passing windows than Bradford or McCoy and probably worse ones despite the superior receivers. From what I saw Tebow's accuracy on the deep outs and fades was very good. It's the over the middle crossing routes he needs better accuracy on. He's gotta work on that, but unlike McCoy the tools are there. He's not good at it because he hasn't been forced to do it. Neither has Bradford for that matter.
  7. Bittle figures to go in the second round somewhere, maybe someone looking for a cheap sign with a boatload of early picks will pop him in the supplemental round like Arizona (6 of first 60 picks) or the Angels (5 of first 48 picks). Freshman C Taylor Hightower and Sophomore LHP Drew Pomeranz both figure to go into the first 50 picks in 2011 and 2010, respectively. Both guys could find themselves in the top half of the first round and are probably better long term pro prospects. Bittle's a RHP with a fringy average FB and a plus "cutter" which is in the low-to-mid 80s. I see him as a potential setup man at best. He's got a good change but I'm wary of college RHPs with marginal FBs. That being said, he's a guy that should move quickly and could help his team by July 2010.

  9. Picking first in next years draft is like kissing your sister. One year after Strasburg and the one before Harper.
  10. Imagine if we did not make a move and then have one of those 19 inning marathons. That would be awesome.
  11. Demps will probably turn in the best 40 in 2012 and he'll probably be a member of the 100m Olympic Team. Davis would date him.
  12. Al Davis might take Demps #1 overall.
  13. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-phillies-romerolawsuit&prov=ap&type=lgns Gotta feel for someone like JC. He's getting screwed. It was (apparently) not his intent to cheat and he did everything in his power not to cheat, but got screwed. Sucks to be him.
  14. Of the guys mentioned: Tebow and McCoy are seniors. Clausen, Snead and Bradford (Devlin too i think) are juniors. Mallett will be a RS sophomore.
  15. For a kid with the tools as big as Clausen's, it'll only take one great season for him to become a top five pick. See: Carson Palmer. It'll only take him one good season to become a first round pick. See: Aaron Rodgers and Kyle Boller, among others. Hell his sophomore season was better than any of Josh Freeman's and he's got more tools than Freeman.
  16. I think Tebow's going to go first round as a QB. If there's a QB who can bring the spread option to the NFL, it's someone big and durable like Tebow. Some team will experiment with it. I don't know if it will work. If there is another QB outside of Snead, Tebow and Bradford in the first round, I think it's Clausen. He came on late last season, works under a good QB coach, and has the biggest upside in the draft from the position. Ryan Mallett could explode as well.
  17. I don't know if Wright will have a position in the NFL. He's passable in coverage at best and plays the run elitely, but not big enough to play LB. He's a tweener and in the right system he could be very productive in the NFL but he's not a good fit for most teams. The guy to watch out for is Will Hill. He's a 2011 guy, but he could go top ten as a S. The Gators secondary should have three future first rounders next year. Bookend corners and Jenkins and Haden and Hill will play the nickle most of the time, actually. The Gators defense is going to be scary good next year.
  18. I think Snead's going to be the second quarterback taken next year (behind Bradford). Provided Clausen doesn't go off.
  19. Geoff Jenkins interests me a bit. With Lou hating Hoff and MB MIA for months at a time, a Jenkins/Johnson platoon in RF/CF while MB is out isn't bad. IIRC Jenkins has a huge platoon split. Ditch Gathright for Jenkins. We have two CFers in Johnson and KF. Soriano could play out there in a pinch. Theriot could too.
  20. What makes Colt McCoy a better pro prospect than Tim Tebow? Is it McCoy's vaginal arm? McCoy can't throw the ball ten yards down field consistently. Tebow and the 2008 Florida Gators passing offense was one of the most vertical in college football. McCoy's and Texas' was the most horizontal in college football. I wouldn't take McCoy in the first two or three rounds.
  21. Major Wright >> Eric Berry Well not really. Wright could sneak in the bottom half of the first round though second round seems more plausible. The Gators will have a zillion guys called next year.
  22. Fernando Nieve's hotness sees no limits.
  23. Chapter Three is titled: “Perez Is One of Baseball’s Top 5 Left-Handed Starting Pitchers.” It puts Perez in a grouping with C.C. Sabathia, Cole Hamels, Ted Lilly and Johan Santana, who was Perez’s teammate on the Mets in 2007. I heard that Scott Kazmir guy down in Tampa is pretty good, Scott. I'm not sure if you have. Oh wait, he's your client and I'm pretty sure when you negotiated Kazmir's latest contract the binder had a chapter: "Kazmir Is One of Baseball’s Top 5 Left-Handed Starting Pitchers." Only, this time around you didn't have Perez listed, but Kazmir instead. Oh wait, you didn't negotiate Kazmir's latest contract. He fired your ass.
  24. not really...
