  1. General impressions of "Downsy" in the first: -Pretty easy delivery -Has a nice, slow curve -Works quite fast P9, P8, and 6-3 to make it a 1-2-3 inning.
  2. Silly time zone. They're watering the field right now in Boise. The live video is great. Bacon had an infield single, stole a pair of bases, and scored the tying run. Unfortunately, Murton was thrown out at home on a great throw. Pinto with "only" 81 pitches through 6. 2-2 score.
  3. I can't get the Hawks video to load. However, they do archive the games and judging by the few seconds I watched of yesterday's national anthem, the quality is actually quite good.
  4. Ron, I know you've gotten in a few words over the air regarding your (continual) disappointment over the lack of fans at Pringles Park. I've heard players briefly describe before the difference between playing in the minors and playing in a stadium with that 2nd or 3rd deck. Aside from the extra motivation and energy, for most prospects, do you have a sense of the importance of playing in front of large crowds day in and day out at the AA level? Have you had any discussions with any current or former players/coaches about how large crowds can better prepare you emotionally for playing at a higher level, especially where people are going to know who you are, or does it really not make much of a difference?
  5. Gonna be interesting to see Dusty's lineups for a doubleheader... If Lee can play game 2 tomorrow night, I'd imagine we'll see the same lineup for game 1.
  6. The tarp is on and the game will be under a rain delay.
  7. As expected, Dusty said the lineup is because of Smoltz.
  8. Severe Tornado warning??? I've never heard of that. I thought there were only Severe thunderstorm watch, severe thunderstorm warning, and then tornado watches and warnings..... huh. It's what comes after the "Don't wait until you see a pickup truck in the air before you run for cover" warning.
  9. Good news, indeed. He could start as early as tomorrow night.
  10. Good news on Derrek. He had an MRI done and it showed nothing wrong. It's just inflammation and it will be up to him on whether or not to play tomorrow night. It's raining very lightly at the park, but based on the latest radar update, there are some nasty scattered t-storms to the SW that could pose a problem even later.
  11. Atlanta's B lineup? The only major difference I see is their backup cather is playing. Yeah, that's their B lineup...
  12. A few of things to remember before saying the Cubs will lose tonight: 1. Prior 2. Atlanta's B lineup 3. Rain?

  14. Hmm, can't remember him. Of course, that's just because all of the Cougars seemed to have at least 2 hits by the time I left in the 5th so nobody stood out on that team.
  15. A nicely optimistic piece on Moore. I forgot he was only 21.
  16. You may want to check out his 2005 numbers at Iowa and not just go by what he did last year at AA.
  17. Those are some large puddles along the track.
  18. Ask and you shall receive. Sing (16), Murton (8), and Craig (7) all hit long balls tonight in a late 10-2 blowout. Each one also had 2 RBIs Marmol gave up 4 runs on 9 hits, 5 walks, 2 strikeouts, and 1 HR, but picked up his first win with West Tennessee. In the FSL, Dope went 1-3 with a 3-run HR (8) and a walk. Richie increased his BA to .312 with a pair of doubles. Mateo pitched 6 strong innings, yielding just 1 earned on 5 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. He picked up the win as Daytona won 8-1.
  19. And Colon gets out of it with pitches low and out of the zone.
  20. Swung at three balls outside in that AB. Derrek doesn't look healthy.
  21. Lee better not be hurt after that swing.
  22. I was on the phone. Was there even a chance Neifi beat that out?
  23. Notes on the Ronny Cedeno interview (who doesn't sound at all like he looks): -Tries to stick with working on the basics every day. -Was told before they wanted him to play every day. -Was told he was going to be called up because he was doing a great job. -Likes to just relax and stay back at the plate. -Said he can play short, second, and third. -He's just trying to help the team and knows he can play every day. Just wants to work hard for Dusty because he knows he likes that.
  24. Just wanted to remind everyone that this is the minor league forum and a thread on Murton. If you want to talk about Hollandsworth, please take it to the baseball discussion forum. Thanks.
  25. Here's that last video: http://www.jonmdavis.net/chiefs/johnsongame2.mpg
