  1. Murton's great jump off of first saved a potential DP right there.
  2. 50 pitches through 3 innings. Those walks and a BAA over .300 isn't a good combination.
  3. Out quite easily. Nice quick release by Barrett.
  4. Hit it high and watch it fly. Neifi looked like he was going to be blown over at the plate. Woah. Willis goes down...and maybe be faking it.
  5. And Burny evens up his battle with the wind!!! Encarnacion missed that one by about an inch.
  6. Carlos continues to give up HRs at an alarming rate. He's on pace for giving up nearly 22 this year.
  7. Welcome to the big leagues, Matt Murton!
  8. I'm not sure he could make it to third if he did tag. C'mon. Encarnacion was in the right field corner, with his back to the infield. I was kidding...but it still would have been close. By the way, it's just 75 degrees in Miami.
  9. Jae Kuk Ryu is going for the Diamond Jaxx.
  10. I'm not sure he could make it to third if he did tag.
  11. Bah. The wind probably kept that one in the park.
  12. Let me know if you spot a fan wearing Marlins gear. BTW, do I have to remind anyone of the classic pic that resulted from the last time Z and Willis hooked up in Florida with rain in the forecast?
  13. Looks like a bad video card along with MVP Baseaball 2004.. Good call. The wind is blowing in from CF, apparently.
  14. The production on CLTV is even sloppier than it normally is on CSNC. I do like the neon blue uniforms, though.
  15. Notes from Dusty: -Barrett felt badly about that HR last night despite Novoa missing the location by a couple of feet -In Corey's case, he lost confidence and concentration. He likened it to a move they made in SF about sending Matt Williams down and he came back playing much better. -For Dubois, Hollandsworth was playing better and they want him to go down to work on his things, especially his defense. -They're not blaming the two guys, but want to shake things up, bring up some life, and let them work. -When questioned about Corey's emotion, Dusty said that was the same thing they said about Derrek Lee in SD. The emotion is definitely there and Corey wants it very badly. -Derrek Lee is getting better, but isn't ready yet. -Greenberg won't see a start in CF this series against the lefties. -Murton will start two games against the lefties, Hollandsworth will start one. It was raining but the game will start on time.
  16. as far as i know, you are correct. leiter will start in beckett's place on sunday. Olsen, eh? I guess we'll have to wait until after the break to see how much time the rookies are really going to get.
  17. And Mr. Neifi is protecting Burnitz. We'll see what the lineup is like tomorrow against a right-hander.

  19. He better be wrong. I'd imagine this would have been the best move Bowden has made in quite a while. I would have sent him a nice card for keeping Wilson away from the Cubs.
  20. His value is pretty low right now. Corey does need a fresh start with a coaching staff that understands what kind of ballplayer he is. I just hope that will be in Chicago.
  21. I'm not sure. He basically just said that without his weight routine, he didn't feel at full strength.
  22. A day or two ago, Michael was interviewed on the WGN Radio pregame show and talked about his shoulder injury. He claimed that he only recently started to feel like his normal self because the injury caused him to stop lifting weights. The slugishness is gone and it appears he's swinging better. Just something to keep an eye on.
  23. The strength of a good major league hitting coach (not necessarily acknowledging that Clines falls into that category, mind you) is in recognizing what a hitter does when he's doing well and reminding him to do those things when he's not doing so well. Corey needs to go back to square one and reestablish his hitting style. That's much more easily done at the minor league level where winning is secondary to player development. To paraphrase Sonny Jackson's in his interview today (who's working with Corey only on his bunting), "we have no idea what's wrong with Corey." I'd be more comfortable with them just admitting their mistake in trying to turn him into a leadoff hitter this offseason and saying that he's going to, as you said, go back to square one. We'll see what they do with him down there.
  24. I'm not surprised to see Jim compare the situation to Atlanta's, but they've have numerous opportunities to "throw rookies into the fire" and have been quite reluctant to do so. I guess time will tell if Murton actually gets some starts... Of course, if by some rare chance Murton is going to start on a regular basis, why wouldn't they let Dubois?
