  1. Montanez hits a 2-run double, his 2nd of the evening, to make it 9-0 Diamond Jaxx is the 6th. Bacon scored from first on that hit, so his groin must be doing okay.
  2. And now he gets a Sing HR! His 17th of the season.
  3. Pinto leaves after 5 innings of shutout ball on 3 hits, 5 walks, and 5 strikeouts. He's in line for the win as the Diamond Jaxx have a comfortable 6-0 lead.
  4. Sisk, wearing #13, just launched a 2-run HR to give the Jaxx a 2-0 lead. Luis, wearing Murton's #25, double inside the bag in his first AB but was part of a 6-5-3 on a grounder to short. Not sure how the batter was out at first (I think he rounded the bag and didn't get back in time).
  5. Pinto is starting game one while O'Malley will go in game two.
  6. Pretty rough days at the plate for Lee and Ramirez. Lee just had no idea what Duke was throwing.
  7. that would be the worst thing yet this year. To get my hopes up about Cedeno starting at SS and then scratching him at the last minute. :x No. The pregame interview is taped 2-3 hours before hand, meaning that Neifi was the one who was scratched. That is if I heard it right, of course. But I'm pretty sure Dusty had Neifi in the lineup and then complimented his play.
  8. Is anyone else listening to the pregame show? I'm pretty sure Dusty said that Neifi was starting at short, so he may have been a late scratch.
  9. I believe the "Riff Raff" title they put under his name says enough.
  10. It's been about a week since Williamson pitched for Mesa, but it looks like he could be activated as early as mid-August if all goes well:
  11. I almost had Autry in my class when I was a grad student at NU. But alas, no. BTW, a suggestion for the Cubs brass: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WITH THESE $*&^^%*# SEVENTH INNING STRETCH GUESTS!!!!! ARGHHHH! I'll be graduating with Autry, hopefully. He came back in the spring to finish up his degree and should be graduating next June. Does anyone remember Maddux's numbers in his first start after the break? I seem to recall about 3 CG shutouts and 5 or 6 CGs total.
  12. Ugh. What a disaster of a 4th quarter in that game. They got back on track pretty fast, though. I'm pretty sure I was at the Homecoming thumping of Wisconsin a month or so later. And I'll never forget where I was when they said on WGN that Michigan had knocked out Ohio State. I've still got the Wheaties box. And Roast, you clearly don't understand the power of the '95 team.
  13. The Cubs can't possibly lose this game. Not only is Maddux amazing in his first start after the All Star break, but Pat Fitzgerald, Steve Schnur, Darnell Autry, and D'Wayne Bates will all be there to sing the stretch!
  14. He's a freaking monster. I'd like to see how much of a dive they'd take in they were in the batter's box. That's cool that those guys came to Wrigley, I didn't even think about that even after reading they were in town. Yeah. Did you see a replay of that first pitch? Z crouched down in a catcher's position but leaped high into the air to prevent the ball from going to the backstop. He seemed giddy. I'm not sure if Z still plays soccer (I'd imagine his contract wouldn't allow it), but I'd pay money to see it.
  15. Once again, Carlos love his futbol: http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20050715/capt.cxc10107151755.cubs_real_madrid_us_cxc101.jpg http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20050715/capt.cxc10207151801.cubs_real_madrid_us_cxc102.jpg http://us.news1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/rids/20050715/i/r3192444604.jpg http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/chc/photos
  16. Phew. It looked like Murton would be left in the on deck circle for the 2nd straight inning.
  17. Unfortunately that would leave them without somebody who can play SS. They need to keep Ronny up unless they get another SS or Nomar returns. Cody Ransom can do just as good of a job sitting on the bench as Cedeno. I'd be able to live with the risk of losing Ransom once Nomar is activated. What is the 40 man situation with Murton, Greenberg and Grieve being added? I'm pretty sure Grieve was already on there, so it still stands at 39.
  18. You don't think he's experienced another twinge? :? It's a blowout and guys like Wuertz haven't pitched since before the AS break, so they need a little work. Nice game by Kerry, though. He benefitted from the wind, but he looked pretty good.
  19. Shut up. Seriously? The 2nd base umpire signaled fair ball once they started to dig into the vines. Unfortunately, they overturned the ruling and just called it a ground rule double. I don't get why he made that call. They didn't start digging until long after they stopped and put their arms up. I'm guessing he was busting Wilson for not lifting his arms high enough, but that should have been called a double much sooner. I didn't see the shot of Wilson putting his arms up, but I'm guessing the umpire just had a brain cramp. (At least?) He got the call right.

  22. Or not. Did he put his arms up before going into the vines?
