  1. Here's something to think about. In a 96 team tournament, the no. 1 seed will play the winner of a no. 16/17 matchup. Now, note that all the small conference champions will probably be seeded somewhere between 20 and 24, so the seeds for 16 and 17 will be teams that just didn't make it in a 65 team tournament. This year, it will probably be teams like Dayton, UNC, and UConn. Imagine if you're Kentucky and your first tournament game is against UConn.
  2. That's what I thought they would do also but they're concerned with logistics. The selection show will still be Sunday night so that would leave 40 hours between the announcement of your opponent/location and your game for those playing on Tuesday. I don't know that I can recall a situation like this where everyone in the media and fans almost universally thought it was a terrible idea but basically conceded that it's inevitable. If you can't leave it, just go to 68 and have 4 play-in games for the 12 seeds. I agree with this, even though deciding to give them the 12-seed is kinda arbitrary, and is not really fair to the 5-seeds. But I do like the idea that the last 8 at-large bids play for the last 4 spots. Make the teams that didn't earn their spot into the tourney play for the right to be in it.
  3. Nope, I like it. How can you look at how this tournament played out and be in favor of this? We're looking at the results of a pretty much perfect playoff system; I just don't see why it needs to be tweaked at all What is it about this tournament that can't be played out with a 96-team tourney? And and the tournament last year was pretty vanilla. As was 2008.
  4. I don't get this. Currently the two opening round teams will be missing classes as well, and nobody seems to be complaining about that. So why is it ok for those two teams to miss classes but not ok for the other 30 teams?
  5. The CBI and the CIT are privately owned and operated (CBI by Gazelle Group and CIT by CollegeInsider.com), so this decision will have no bearing on those tournaments. They're still going to invite teams that are left.
  6. I don't see anything funny about this at all.
  7. Yesh, I suppose I didn't clear my cookies as I thought I had. LOL! Just what this team needs. LOL at you clicking on only Theriot and Fontenot.
  8. He chose Duke over Illinois. You would have done the same. How do you know gflore is white? Well played, but Duke is adding 5 black players next year if you include Seth Curry.
  9. He chose Duke over Illinois. You would have done the same.
  10. Wood's 20K game was more impressive and it's not even close. Isn't Wood's game the most dominant performance by a pitcher using some game score metric?
  11. Duke has 3 times the McD All-Americans Texas does most years(note numbers a total estimation and may be completely made up) Oh, c'mon. You know very well -- in fact, I think you've even mentioned it before -- that many of Duke's McDonald's All-Americans are such because they are committed to Duke, not because they're actually worthy (the same principle often applies to actual rankings, as well). Further, while it's hilarious to say "Duke hasn't been to the Final Four since 2004, ahahah" -- what a loser, he went five whole seasons without a Final Four -- Duke won 27-32-22-28-30 games over that stretch. Barnes has had four double-digit losses in the last six years, Coach K has had two since 1984 (not including the partial season he missed due to his back). I'd also argue Barnes has had more actual talent over the past six-eight years. This is a really stupid comparison and I'm going to stop now. You got me on your first point. All I can really argue with in this post is his ludicrous my team sucks so I'm getting back surgery and putting all the losses on this fall guy. [expletive] you K Yeah, i pretty much lost all respect for K after that. My friends from Duke wrote this article published in Feb '05 in Duke's student paper: http://dukechronicle.com/node/135631
  12. Didn't John Smoltz land on the DL after ironing his shirt while still wearing it?
  13. OMG SO CLOSE I WANT TO TASTE IT
  14. Ok, Clark Kellogg just said "unmolested"
  15. Can I get a mulligan for the last minute?
  16. Is there a coach that gets his teams to overperform in the tournament more often than Izzo? I'd say Coach K in the lates 80s, early 90s. 6 Final Fours in 7 seasons.
  17. Christian Laettner, or Blake Hoffarber
  18. It's all Duke's now! GO TAKE IT
  19. Cue Benny Hill music
  20. That ain't right.
  21. "What a turn of events!" - Len Elmore after Clemente loses the ball in the last minute. BUTLER WAS FREAKING UP THE ENTIRE GAME!
  22. Urgh ... don't remind me.
  23. Kansas State is just missing a ridiculous number of easy shots. It's not so much Butler playing good defense as K-state has been getting open looks, mostly down low. I will give Butler credit for covering Pullen like a blanket though.
  24. K-state is looking like crap so far. You think that double OT win took all their energy away?
  25. Hummel is Purdue's 4th leading scorer
