  1. Jeff Van Gundy thinks the Heat can break the Bulls regular season win record next season. [expletive] him.
  2. Very interesting indeed. I only read Posnanski's article and it seems he's outright dismissing steroids while not really backing it up with evidence having to do with steroids itself. I'm not saying I don't think his arguments have any validity, but he's gotta do a better job of backing them up.
  3. Why do I have the feeling that all the sarcastic Calipari comments are directed at me? Note that nothing in the article mentions Calipari except at the very end where they list out things that have nothing to do with this. Let's wait until this investigation is over before passing judgment.
  4. He may have sent pictures of his junk to her. I do have to say ... Jenn Sterger does look like Deanna Favre if you took off 20 years.
  5. Apparently the Brewers are petitioning MLB for a scoring change from yesterday so they can have 27 hits, which would be the most hits the Cubs have allowed in their history. Any respect I had for the Brewers (next to none) has just evaporated.
  6. Interesting strategy that I'd never considered before: 3 or 4 times a year just push everyone in the rotation back a day just for the sake of not wearing them down so much, even if the 5 starters are all totally healthy and not up against innings limits or what have you. I don't necessarily disagree with giving your starters extra rest, especially later in the season. Use a long man in the pen for that. But is it really wise to waste an option on a player and start his service clock early for just one game? Didn't the Rays already burn his option when they placed him on the 40 man at the beginning of the season?
  7. Homers are down and no-hitters are up, duh! http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/NL/pitch.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/AL/pitch.shtml lowest runs allowed by NL and AL pitchers since 1992. so yes, relative to where we've been the past 15 or 20 years, it's a pitcher's year. It's kind of funny. Comparing this year to pre-1992 baseball, this year would be considered a down year for pitchers. It definitely seems 'roids have helped hitters more than pitchers.
  8. What exactly makes this a "pitcher's year"? Does anybody have overall stats for pitcher's this year that are statistically significantly better than previous years? I know it might have the illusion of a pitcher's year due to the number of no-hitters and perfect games and late game no-hitters that have occurred, but those might only be fringe cases that don't necessarily tip over the overall pitching stats.
  9. And for good reason. You just don't take the Stanley Cup winning goalie off your team without people raising their eyebrows, no matter for how good a reason.
  10. I remember when the Red Sox visited Wrigley in 2005. Maddux hit a HR in one of those games. That was the series that turned me against the Red Sox. The fanbases were all friendly to each other at the start of the series, Cub fans congratulating the Red Sox fans for finally breaking their curse, and Red Sox fans wishing the Cub fans break their own curse as well. However, by the end of the series, I found the Red Sox fans to be completely annoying.
  11. Sadly for the Cubs, Bob wasnt joking. Cubs won that game, so I think we can all give Bob a pass for it.
  12. I could make a Brett Myers joke here, but that would just be beating a dead horse.
  13. "NIEMI SAYS NO!" Isn't that worth $1M by itself?
  14. I feel like Kenny Williams is trying to play MLB's version of oneredpaperclip. (Link for those who don't get the reference: http://www.oneredpaperclip.com/ )
  15. If Coble chooses grad school, can't he play another year?
  16. Didn't they announce that the name is going to be the Pac-12? Why does the logo still say Pac-10? Are they just going to replace the "0" with a "2" later on?
  17. Diss on Japanese baseball all you want, but they've won the last two WBC's.
  18. I would love to pilfer Girardi from the Yankees. Shows the Yankees that they are not all that.
  19. God, his game was just so silky smooth.
  20. How'd you know it was 1976?
