    No chance it happens. Not for Prior and Pie? I agree the Cubs don't have the stones to make the move though. Think about it this way: if the Marlins are willing to move Cabrera, they are willing to move Dontrelle. The reason they would move Dontrelle is because he's going to start making big bucks... something that can also be said for Prior. It doesn't really make sense for the Marlins. You'd have to come up premium, young talent that will stay cheap for years to come.

    I think Tony Clark might be a good idea, AZ. is playing Conor Jackson at 1B pretty much every day now, they told him before the season they werer going to try to get him as many at bats as possible and kind of platoon him with Jackson but Jackson has been so good that Tony's basicly just rotting on the bench. Tony is not Lee but he would be a better option than what we currently have and he shouldnt be that hard to get. clark's contract is for 2 years. i don't want him. How much per year? He really had a good year last year and would be a nice stop gap. Maybe the D-backs would eat some of the contract for a decent pitching prospect. The contract is $2 million TOTAL! Like I said, it's clearly a deal that a player would take if he wants to stay in a certain city. I can't see him being traded..

    You don't think they would do it for Prior and Pie? Thats not a crazy move, the major league team loses only the potential of what those two could do. They could both fail to meet expectations too. Dunn or Cabrera are consistent and healthy offensive forces. This team would have the best offense in the NL when Lee comes back. Honestly? Not any time soon... at least not until Prior comes back throwing well and proving he is healthy (for the time being at least).

    What do you guys think a Dunn or Cabrera would take? Dunn... I'm guessing you'd start with Hill (since they want pitching) and then would go from there. But it would take a lot more than Hill. Dunn is just 26 and is about as productive an offensive player as anyone in the league. And with Miggy... I think you'd have to be looking at a Hershall Walker to the Vikes-esque deal (granted, no draft picks involved, but about the same value-for-value picks). I mean, consider that Beckett took Hanley Ramirez and then some, and the Red Sox had to be willing to pay Mike Lowell $10 million this year, which was a huge, huge risk given how crappy he was last year.

    I'd venture to say Dunn would take a Hill or a Pie plus more prospects. But for being so young, he is worth it.

    Well... just my view, but: Lee posted an OPS over 1.000 last year. By all accounts, he was on his way to doing that again this year. For a guy like Jones (career sub-.800 OPS), I don't even think him picking up the play can fill the void left by Lee. Even if A-Ram picks up the play, who's going to bat behind him? Barrett has been hitting very well this season, but Ramirez/Barrett is no Lee/Ramirez...

    WOW! I just looked up his contract. If my eyes aren't betraying me, it looks like he signed for $1 million a year for the next two seasons (through '07)... sounds like someone who wants to stay in 'Zona.

    1. Aubrey Huff- D-Rays will want a king's ransom. But, isn't he hurt? I thought he was out like 4-6 weeks already. 2. Phil Nevin- Eh, I'm skeptical. I think the power surge is more a result of playing in Arlington. 3. Tony Clark- Could be an interesting move. They defintely do have the replacements down on the farm... 4. Mike Sweeney- Hm... Sweeney is a very good hitter. Probably the best bet (but at what cost?).

    The Pirates are probably ok with moving Craig Wilson, as all they have to do is call up Eldred. I wouldn't mind Wilson on the team at all. Only problem with Wilson is that his stock is so high right now.

    If Lee's out for 8-10 weeks, let's see what it would take to get Todd Helton. While you're probably saying that tongue-in-cheek, what do you do with 'em when Lee gets back?

    Depends a lot on how well Edmonds comes back from the injury. He looked good yesterday. And is someone like Ramirez going to be able to get back on track? Losing Lee is definitely a huge, huge blow to the offense.

    It's hard to say on the Lee injury... On one hand, it looked like the guy shattered his wrist, based on his reaction. I mean, he was rolling around on the ground wincing in pain. On the contrary, he did get up and it looked for a minute he might remain in the game. It's really tough to say. Maybe anywhere from a week to a month. I really have no idea. Very interested to hear the news tomorrow.
