  1. So...my Fox channel is showing dead air. Anyone else?
  2. No idea. It was right across the street from a hotel where a few sessions have been held. They re-run a clip from there regularly. He was ordering chicken with rice and beans (I had a quesadilla) and talking on his phone. What I heard was: "I'm in New York, just flew in. I have to go meet the commissioner now and I'm flying out tomorrow." I smiled and said hi to him, and he said hi back. I've actually seen him at the same charitable event a couple times. He sat at our table once. Not that he had any reason to recognize me. The hispanic guy at the grill asked me if he was any good and the lady behind the counter did the finger wag. The "jersey cubs fan" in mind never smiles. Ever.
  3. The next time he's right about the Bears will be the first time. He has a huge blind spot there. Agreed, and I think he admits as much at the end.
  4. I'm a fan of changing my defense almost weekly. I think there's maybe 3 or so defenses worth playing every week, but beyond that, I like to play the matchups. I have the Giants this week, since they're facing Miami.
  5. It would be extremely disappointing if Don Banks is right...
  6. I have both Gore and Holmes. Gore has really started picking it up, while Holmes has dropped off. The Jets are going to Plax a lot more, especially in the endzone. Holmes is my 3rd WR behind Jennings and Steve Smith...so I've gotten by with him. But I really haven't been able to count on him.
  7. I got to sit at the press table or whatever right next to the bench for a magic/jazz game when malone/stockton were still around. it was pretty crazy. everything seemed way more fast paced and frantic when you're right there I've sat in the front row courtside once, but it was almost directly behind the basket, so it wasn't as awesome as I hoped. Was BJ Armstrong's retirement ceremony that night. That was purefly coincidence though.
  8. The "every stadium in baseball" one is one that my wife and I have talked about since shortly after we started dating. So far our total stadiums attended together is.....three. It's unfortunately been pushed down the priority list a lot, but it's still there.
  9. I won't be happy until a K-zone style system replaces the home plate ump at calling balls/strikes.
  10. Gonna be some sloppy ball to start the season you'd have to think.
  11. Not sure which interview this is from, but it's at the end of Sullivan's article this morning...
  12. Reasons that I feel confident about beating the Eagles, that may or may not be accurate: 1) Vick hasn't exactly torn up the Bears historically. In his career, he's only beaten the Bears 1 out of 5 tries, is 72-123 for 870 yards, 3 TD's, 3 INT's. 2) The Eagles haven't had an extremely tough schedule. They've only beaten the Rams and Redskins...not exactly brag worthy. 3) Bears will be coming off 2 weeks of preparation, and should have everyone healthy. There's really no situation, other than maybe opening day, that will be better for the Bears to be ready for a game.
  13. At 6:20 in the morning?
  14. I'm like a junkie that just got another fix. Two days from now I'm gonna be jonesing again.
  15. Some of you already heard this, but Theo on Starlin from the ESPN radio interview...
  16. Carimi returned to practice. Yay!
  17. why? Yeah I'm not sure either. Why would you trade him for nothing?
  18. Wonder what movie that is. Did you miss the URL?
  19. Naming the computer system might be the silliest "debate" ever.
  20. are you freaking kidding me? When the hell did this ever happen? this isn't an addiction that exists Yeah, I'd like an example of this. Other than Soriano (which is really stretching the definition of "best free agent"), please provide an example of a time when the Cubs signed the best free agent available.
  21. And he has a home in Chicago. And Quade hasn't been fired, so he wasn't coming to interview.
  22. Discussing the actual topic would be a better plan.
  23. Lets get back on target and off this bizarre tangent, please.
  24. Not sure what people see as "fairly short order", but at 5 hours or more per post approval, it's going to be rather hard for anyone to be a part of the conversation here or to make a quick quip. As to the Cubs fan "again" comment, really? Blood in the water for the faithful here? I was referring to a renewed sense of interest and love for the team that I have lived and died with for over 30 years. Pretty sure I'm not the only one that lost interest and refused to spend any money on the debacle that were the Cubs the last couple of years. This board has a very clique-like mentality, afaik. It limits the amount of people wiling to post here and endure the hazing atmosphere. In turn, this limits input and diversity. Tim and the Mods would do well to try to eliminate that kind of behavior instead of protecting everyone from "spam-bots" imho. You have the ability to moderate after an offending post is made, correct? Hence the comment about a board that feels the need to moderate both before AND after the fact. Just my .02 Flame on. :hello: Thanks for the input. I would say there's nothing that is more endearing to any online community than for 2 of your first 4 post to criticize board rules/methods, mods, and the mentality of the community. It usually really fosters friendship and a sense of belonging. Welcome!
