  1. I can't wait for the Chicago media to throw a collective hissy if the Cards hire Sandberg.
  2. Random internet guy says that Francona is in STL: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showpost.php?p=8071541&postcount=8987 Sounds fishy to me that the framework of a deal would've been done before TLR retired.
  3. Hasn't Buerhle long been interested in joining the Cards?
  4. Yep. Anything else good in that interview?
  5. Need 3 of the following: Greg Jennings @SD (no brainer) Brandon Lloyd @Ari Michael Crabtree @Was Santonio Holmes @Buf I'm leaning towards letting Holmes sit. Just looking for approval.
  6. It's Jason Goff fwiw Oops.
  7. Heh...Jason Gough on B&B referred to Hoyer as "Gar Hoyer".
  8. On the flip side, if Boston at one point agreed to Carpenter, might be that Bud says "this is silly" and just goes with that agreement.
  9. With about 325 AB per season in Wrigley I bet Pujols or Prince could do it. Sammy couldn't.
  10. Haha...sounds like this was pretty accurate!
  11. That's the correlation. Generating additional revenue allows you to spend more, whether it be on major league payroll, or using it for minor league/developmental uses. I don't think it's coincidental that the Red Sox sustained success came after they started updating/renovating Fenway. That's not a direct correlation. The only direct correlation in the equation is revenue to on-field success. Revenue Generator ---> More Revenue ---> Team being better That revenue generator need not be a jumbotron. It need not be one thing, period. It can be a lot of small things. Why would you purposely ignore a possible stream of revenue?
  12. Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but maybe this helps? http://trianglebuilding.blogspot.com/ To be clear, that's only one student's ideas, and not necessarily what the team plans to do. Oh, thanks. Somehow I missed that...distracted by shiny pictures.

  15. Come on. At some point don't we have to let go of the "we're special cuz of X thing that doesn't make the team on the field any better"? If it took tearing Wrigley to the ground, and building a new ballpark for the Cubs to win a WS, I'd be all for it.
  16. I don't usually do the contests on here, but I think I'd participate this time. I'll start now. I predict CC Sabathia to the Yankees.
  17. Buck told the story weirdly. This article is from June: http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/article_393b5c14-0f31-53d0-8977-b108de3b3298.html
  18. Putting my conspiracy theory hat on for a second, you could have someone elsewhere in a stadium stealing signs and relaying them via wireless to an ipad/laptop.
  19. Huh...no kidding. TLR and his holograms!
  20. I forget what I was listening to/watching, where someone asked if they were required to have information in "paper" form in the dugouts, or if they could use technology. The response from whoever was being interviewed (sorry, I don't have more details) was that they'd never seen a laptop or ipad in the dugout during the game. And it's made me wonder why we don't see that really in any of the major sports. You'd think that using an ipad would be a great tool for drawing up a play to show players during an NBA timeout, or a good way to store an NFL playbook.
  21. I'm anticipating a busy day tomorrow between the press conference for Hoyer / McLeod, Selig determining compensation and various announcements around baseball. I wonder if we could get get an announcement about the compensation issue during the Hoyer PC.
  22. I saw this a couple of weeks ago when they were talking about proposed changes to the CBA. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, Booze. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7147880/nba-most-likely-amnesty-candidates
  23. I do not care if Tebow is Muslim, Wiccan, or a Scientologist. He's a bad QB trying to use his job as a pulpit. And that's annoying, especially since he's not good at his job.
  24. Hahaha. People aren't resenting him for his beliefs. They resent him for being a bad quarterback. Some people are propping him up because of his lifestyle and beliefs, not the other way around.
