  1. You know what I've noticed? Nobody panics when things go "according to plan." Even if the plan is horrifying! The plan is to win the World Series, just not on Kyle's schedule. Truly horrifying.
  2. Intentionally breaching the contract - if blocking the views does that - is the potentially unsavory part. I'm making no judgment either way - it's a frequent business practice. I just wanted to make sure and note that it's not everyone's cup of tea. I get what you're saying, but it's a contract that the previous ownership signed. I think that makes it a bit more palatable. But I'm not unbiased.
  3. It's gonna be really cool when I win this.... http://www.chicagobears.com/fan-zone/ultimate_draft.html
  4. I'm referring to actually pulling it off though, not just the fact that they hired someone "saber-friendly." Was it actually hard to pull off though or just great timing? Theo already having multiple championships, a bad relationship with Lucchino, and a team starting to fade surely made it easier to get him. Thrilled to have him, but I'm not sure it was all that hard to get him. What? Are you forgetting how long it took to sort out the Theo compensation? That took a freaking eternity. Yeah. Theo wanted to come here, but making that actually happen wasn't easy by any means.
  5. That's because we all understand what he and Theo are trying to do. Expectations were set that it would take time under their plan for the Cubs to competitive. There may have been other ways to do it, but so far, it's been exactly what we were told it would be. He's not misled fans about anything.
  6. Yep. There was some discussion about this on the previous page.
  7. SBNation's mock has Cooper falling to the Bears. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2013/3/25/4143254/2013-nfl-mock-draft FWIW, I've more or less hated their mocks, but since I like the result of this one, I think they're great! "Charlie's draft" at Walterfootball has Cooper falling past us to STL at #22. He has us taking Ogletree.
  8. I love the amount of effort that went into reporting that.

  11. There's a conflict with the Orioles, and the Orioles can't/won't reschedule.
  12. Would be awesome to get the Thursday game done that early. Do they not have Thursday games for teams who play the opener? Just last year the Giants played the opener and then played a Thursday night game 2 weeks later. After Green Bay played the opener they played a Thanksgiving game. I wouldn't mind facing Baltimore in week one and having extra time to prepare for week 2. You are right. All 16 teams play on Thursday between Weeks 2 and 15 (with three Thanksgiving games), so the opener is a separate deal. Ah, damn. Didn't know that.
  13. Would be awesome to get the Thursday game done that early.
  14. Really? I'm not sure that makes a whole lot of sense. Don't the beloved guys often take a little discount to stay home? I think both have happened depending on circumstances.
  15. Kendall Gill suspended the rest of the year for the fight.
  16. Sayers was probably the big one. This wasn't direct from Brian to the media, so maybe he shouldn't be held accountable for this one: There was some quotes and drama back when he wanted more money in like 2008. And he's also been pretty vocal about his disappointment when some coaches have left/been fired. Overall, it's not much...just seems like has a quick temper and doesn't always react diplomatically in the media...but he's a meatball LB...that's really not all that crazy.
  17. Jesus, get a grip. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/webroot/animatedgifs6/4486066_o.gif
  18. No they couldn't. If Milwaukee jumps them, the Bulls will be #8. The 76ers would have to jump them to get them out of the playoffs. Next to no chance of that.
  19. I love the guy, but I know what I'm getting with him as far as this stuff goes. Big ego, fragile emotions when it comes to the business side of the NFL.
