    Did call Ballard a "defensive guy", and thinks Todd Bowles will be a consideration because he's a "defensive guy". Also mentioned Darryl Bevell.

    Greg Gabriel is on the radio raving about Ballard right now...calling him "the son I never had".

    Mannelly says that he's talked to people that are in direct contact with Ballard, and that he "knows what he wants, and won't take the job if he doesn't get it".

    Reports this morning that the Bears are expected to interview Shanahan.

    I disagree. He's played extremely solid defense. Yeah he has good defensive instincts, and overall has been pretty good lately but he still makes mistakes occasionally, which I think a lot of players do when they a) transition from europe to the nba and b) learn thibs' defense. Also the only thing I worry about with Niko playing the 3 is having to defend smaller and more athletic players that can blow by him. Right, his D is gonna suffer when he plays the 3, but it's been good enough to keep him from being a liability there.

    Florio was apparently on the radio this morning, and thinks the Falcons could be the first team to hire a coach....and that it'll be Rex Ryan after his interview today.

    As of today (I'll round up to Tuesday), only 89 days until Cubs-Cards season opener. That's too far away. Gotta look forward to Spring Training first.

    Back to the Trestman thing...I don't think that's going to end well. I don't think Trestman can coach in the NFL. I think the league has figured out what Trestman likes to do. And Lovie has no idea how to hire an OC.

    Yep. I said something very similar last night. And like I said a few days ago, it's great to see them just hang in there all game, and put it away at the end.     Looks like the Bears will interview him on Sat. GM hired by then?

    The Jets will, however, interview Chris Grier from Miami...so yeah for them, getting someone to interview.

    Whelp, the Saints director of player personnel turned down the chance to interview with the Jets for the GM job. Nobody wants that job!

    Ok, sounds like Bernstein is basing this off of Hub Arkush's column about needing to get rid of Marshall. He doesn't think Hub would write that without knowing something.

    I'm fine with trading Marshall, but I'm still skeptical they are telling a new incoming GM to get rid of one of the most skilled players on the team. McCaskey and Phillips both specifically indicated that the GM would make personnel decisions.

    Brandon Marshall's extension hasn't even kicked in yet has it? Ugh. If they are just going to dump him, we'd better hear about some really damning locker room antics from him that hurt the team. Otherwise, there's no reason to get rid of him. The more I listened to them, the more it seemed like it was more B&B each putting too much value on their own opinions. Boers specifically mentioned "his guy", but I'm still really skeptical of this one.

    So Boers and Bernstein are saying right now that the next GM gets to make the call on Cutler, but that the Bears ownership wants Marshall gone. That they're done with him. I'm skeptical.

    Oh I don't think so...not for me anyway. Just not much going on.

    Cubs announce pitchers and catchers report Feb 19th. Position players on the 24th.

    Can we speculate that this means the Bears are zeroed in on him? Maybe Ballard is only willing to leave for the Bears?
