This time of year and the trade deadline's of years past remind me of that part in Superman II when Superman's (Hendry) nowhere to be found and those three aliens (White Sox) dressed in black are terrorizing Metropolis (Chicago's North Side). Meanwhile, Zod (Kenny Williams) is asking the defenseless people, "Where is your super man now???" I just hope this ends as well as that movie did. Superman (Hendry) comes back from his icy lair (Trib Tower), with his superpowers back, and saves the helpless people (Cubs fans) from the evil clutch of Zod and company (Kenny and the Sox). Yeah, it's alot like that. In my world the Superman series of movies ended after that movie.

With that theory what minor leaguer wouldn't concern you? And why use Corey as the definitive example? Why not think of Albert Pujols when you see Matt Murton and pencil him in for MVP? Ok, that's going a bit far but my point is that you shouldn't be concerned about Murton just because Corey has struggled. -
It just seems to me that there's quite a bit of circumstantial evidence that Giles told his agent, "I'm going back to SD. Get me the best deal you can.". There's also a lot of circumstantial evidence that Hendry never tried, or at least never had serious interest in going that route. You're going to lose on free agents like we did with Furcal, but showing some effort to try to get the best option available for that position would be great. I don't discount the trade route. But a bunch of garbage/mediocrity for a superstar is not especially realistic. I would have hoped that something like Williams, Novoa, and Ryu/Marmol might have been able to get Wilkerson from Texas, but it seems like Daniels may have developed an unnatural attachment to Wilkerson. Hundley turned into Grudz. Garbage for quality player. Bobby Hill turned into Aramis Ramirez. Garbage/Mediocrity for All-Star caliber player. Choi for Lee. Garbage/Mediocity for arguably the best position player in the National League last season. It happens. How is it therefore unrealistic?

Why is signing Brian Giles unrealistic? The 3-way trade idea I can kinda see, but if signing free agents is unrealistic, I don't know what a realistic answer to this question should be. Hendry has to address RF by trade, by free agency, or by minor leagues....and it seems you've discounted the first two options.

Matt-y (Clement) is one example. He also does the "Big Choi" "Big Z" crap that bothers me. Be creative Dust-y, like with your lineup, but without the stupidity part. Here are some more of Dust-y's doozies: Grudz-y Good-y (Tom Goodwin) Well-y (Wellemeyer) Holl-y (Hollandsworth) My wife calls those guys that too...but then, she works in a daycare with 2 year olds all day long, so I cut her some slack. :D
