  1. how does the tie breaker work if both teams have the same conference record? if the Bears still have the tie breaker over NO, it would have been six of one, half dozen of the other. The next tie-breaker is common games, minimum of four, then strength of victories. I think it would come down to strength of victories because the Bears and Saints have both won all their common games (TB, GB, SF) although if the Saints were to lose to the Giants in Week 16, that would give the common games tiebreaker to the Bears. Not to nitpick, but the Bears haven't beaten TB yet.
  2. ESPN says the Bears will replace Harris by committee.
  3. Then how about getting people that football fans would actually care about. The guy from Deperate Housewives, and Belushi do not fall in this category. I will say that Stallone last week wasn't terrible, and Barkley was ok. But if you can't get a guest that football fans will enjoy, then just don't do it...please.
  4. I don't know...the Cubs appearances and Bears appearances are blurring together.
  5. It's stupid how close Roy Williams is to putting up 40 points on you guys.
  6. I know Vance is a 'Boys fan, but I've been saying this Cowboys team is way overrated by the media, and this pretty much shows that. The Saints are a fun team to watch.
  7. If the Bears get a bye they won't even play in the 1st round. Fine, the 2nd round, which would still be the 1st round for them to play in. I just don't see this at all. Have you seen the NFC? We're going to likely have HFA through till the Super Bowl, and I just can't imagine an NFC coming in there and beating us assuming that either Rex turns it around, or Griese is in there. And I don't think it's a stretch to say one of those will happen. I don't think we'll see either the Cowboys or the Saints until the NFC championship game...so who do you see beating us in the first game?
  8. Hmmm...Peter King just mentioned on NBC's pregame show that he thinks that Lance Briggs could be the first player in the history of the Bears to get the franchise tag.
  9. Has Lovie been secretly talking to Terry Bradshaw? I'm skeptical of this simply because I doubt Lovie would actually come out and say this...but it's probably a good educated guess based on Griese getting more snaps, and Rex's play lately.
  10. If you were to follow the Sports Guys betting ideas long enough, you'd lose a ton of money. It's fine to question Grossman, but you can't then place Dallas over them and use Romo as good support, since he has not played any better, or against any better competition, than the Grossman started out the season. Rex looked so much better in the Meadowlands than Romo looked. Yeah, I enjoy his pop culture references, and those type of things than any kind of sports analysis from him.
  11. What a hilarious analogy from Bill Simmons:
  12. This is from another thread that Bruce was commenting in. Thought I'd quote it here so we could keep this topic in one thread... I don't know about the numbers, but I've been writing since last month that they're interested (I know there's a thread about this, so let's keep it over there. But I'll answer the question here.) I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him signed.

  14. And by "people here", he means himself... :P
  15. Where are you going to get a number 2? I'm not in favor of signing Marquis, but a front-line starter is pretty much out of the question. Why not Zito? 3 loopy lefties in one rotation? If the alternative is Jason Marquis at 8+million per? Yes. I hope Marquis isn't the only alternative. Because I don't think Hendry is even considering Zito at this point. Agreed on both counts.
  16. Fair enough. I hadn't read that. I'm willing to admit I could be wrong with my impression of him.

  19. I certainly wouldn't denigrate him personally, but I can't say that he would be my selection for GM if Jim Hendry had to step down. I've simply seen the approach that he talks about (scouting heavily valued over stats) used an awful lot in the Cubs organization, with very little results to show for it as far as championships go. I don't think there's a problem with wanting to see someone with a different approach in there. Will it work? I don't know. But I'd like to find out. I'd like to see a more balanced approach between scouting and stats. And as good as Gary may be at the scouting aspect, I don't see where he's able or willing to incorporate the stats in a complementary fashion. Admittedly, I don't know the guy, so that's just purely an observation from what I have read.
  20. Is it? Hopefully his knees don't hold up. fixed Where's Jeff Gillooly when you need him?
  21. Part of the thing about the Bears run D, and I believe that someone said this in a Bears thread recently, is that the Bears give up most of the running yards between the 20's. They lock down in the red zone.
  22. Sounds like a bad first half on Monday night and Rex could be out. Well we're sure going to need some offense. Because with those starters out Monday? You can bet the Rams are going to put up some serious points. I'm worried we aren't even going to have the ball enough to score. I thought Harris was the only one out for sure. I thought Vasher and and Todd Johnson were both just questionable.
