  2. This is from last year, but it still applies:
  3. Well, I just checked and last year the Steelers had two SI covers in Jan '06. Patriots had two pre-superbowl SI covers in Jan & Feb '05. So I guess it's not that big of a jinx. That and...weren't the Bears on it earlier in the season? I can't find the cover right now, but I definitely saw one, way back in week 4 or so. No Bears covers this year.... But last week's coverwas the Eagles.
  4. SI cover curse anyone? http://www.neworleanssaints.com/photos/article/SICover_012207_Saints%20copy.gif
  5. Green didn't even want to interview for the Raiders job...OUCH. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2733299&name=FPT-2733299-011710&srvc=sz
  6. Well hey, there's 2 Pittsburgh teams there...and they're all northeast teams at least. PHILADELPHIA Flyers  Bah...I meant Pennsylvania, not Pittsburgh. Brain fart.
  7. Well hey, there's 2 Pittsburgh teams there...and they're all northeast teams at least.
  8. How do you figure? Our offense is ranked higher than your defense, and our defense is ranked higher than your offense. Besides, the Bears were DEAD LAST in strength of schedule this year. The Saints were 3rd highest. You beat a team in the Seahawks who were ranked 19th in the NFL and had lost 3 of their last 5 games, and only beat the Cowboys because Romo messed up. Whereas the Saints beat the Eagles, the 9th ranked team in the NFL, who had won their last 6 games. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teameff.php
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/statistics?stat=teamrush&pos=def&league=nfl&season=2&year=2006 NO has the 23rd ranked rushing defense.
  10. I don't know. I would have no problem saying that SOME of them are overconfident. There's a thread asking where in Chicago they can go after the game to celebrate and watch the next game to find out their opponent. One of the replies goes something along the lines of (paraphrasing), "Well, our trophy presentation is going to overlap with the second game so you might miss some of the first half." I mean, come on. I don't think I was that cocky even as a fan of the 90's Bulls.. Ok, maybe I was. But we had Mike. Even with Mike, thought I was confident, I sure was nervous as the games were being played...especially when they were close. And I'm not sure that a public forum is the best measure of the overall fanbases confidence...
  11. as opposed to what? You think Saints fans are going to be hand-wringing and sweating bullets? Ya, we're nervous, but we have to express confidence and get behind our team. When I see confident Bears fans I don't think "hah! look at those overconfident fools", rather I think that they are just big Bears fans who support their team. Honestly, I think there's a lot of Bears fans hand-wringing and sweating bullets though. That was my point. At this point I think Saints fans as a whole are more confident (rightly or wrongly) about this game than Bears fans as a whole. And just to note, I never said anything about them being overconfident. I was just pointing out that they were pretty confident.
  12. How I define irony: Nothing ironic about it. Trolling was put in quotes because I had just been called a troll in this thread. I've seen one post mentioning Saints fans and trolling. It was a general comment not directed specifically at you like you imply. And it certainly wasn't "several times". That said, the comment was inappropriate, and so let this be a warning to everyone. Name calling, including calling each other trolls, isn't going to be tolerated in this thread. We have 5 more days till this game starts, and I don't want this to be a name calling thread. We're all adults and can have a civil, friendly, rivalry. Lets let the "trolling" comments drop, and move on with what should be a fun week for everyone.
  13. http://www.saintsreport.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=2&order=desc Saints message board. Please don't troll it. I just thought the level of confidence was interesting. For a team that's never been to the NFC Championship before, there's a whole lot of confidence about beating the number one seed on the road.
  14. I have no pro teams in my area and the Cubs were a team I picked for some reason when I was 8. I always found Yankee and Met fans to be obnoxious so I had no interest in those teams and that cute little Cubbie on the Cubs sleaves sold me. If there was a team that had dinosours as their mascot I'm sure I would have picked them. The Raptors!!! :D
  15. Not from mods. There's no reason for fans of the Bears opponents to not be able to post in the game thread. If you guys have a good reason why there should be a seperate Saints thread, by all means, let me know...I'm not trying to be an arbitrary jerk here. But we've locked additional Bears threads in the past because they were duplicate, so I don't see why this would be different.
  16. I figured that would go over well. Well for all of us Saints fans this is the first time we've ever been to this place before. I mean, imagine if this was the first time in franchise history that the Bears got to an NFC Champ. game. I grew up with the Saints and have loved them my whole life, and I'm sure a good many other southerners on this board feel the same way. But whatever. And that's fine! But it doesn't need it's own thread...this is the Bears vs Saints thread...post it here. I'm not trying to somehow stifle Saints fandom...
  17. I figured that would go over well.
  18. My favorite: I know past performance isn't as indicative of future performance in football as much as baseball, but it was just an analysis...sheesh.
  19. Some interesting stats that don't bode well for the Colts or Saints... http://community.foxsports.com/blogs/footballoutsiders/2007/01/15/Why_history_points_to_a_BearsPatriots_Super_Bowl
  20. This has me hopeful that the Bears can get back to being disciplined and play better...but I don't know. If they were going to be able to do that, you'd have thought it would happen during the bye week.
  21. The flag was out so early, that I didn't get myself very excited about the runback.
  22. From Peter King's article: Mark my words, Peter will use Rex's past quarterback ratings as an reason to dump on him at some point. In fact if I go look through his archives, I'm pretty damn sure he's already done it!
  23. Well this is the first national media "pick" I've seen so far...he has the Bears winning by 9. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/nunyo_demasio/01/14/saints.bears/index.html
  24. What a garbage article, I guess that tard didn't watch the game yesterday were Grossman made play after play in the passsing game. How do these idiots get reporting jobs? A guy I work with is telling me that Lovie should be fired for continuing to stick with Grossman, and tells me that Grossman played bad yesterday because his throwaways "looked ugly".
