  1. sorry, willson. scottyhop DOES have a point.
  2. a front office and a coach at odds is not something unique to the bulls (and even then, using your mentality, "who knows what happens behind closed doors"). this is fairly common across every league and sport. i seriously doubt any player in any league/sport considers past relationships with the FO and former coaches when determining a location to sign. they are going to look at the current roster, the current coach, the current FO (probably to a much lesser extent), future projections of team success, and money. that's it. ETA: Plus, what mojo just said
  3. Oh I totally understand that. But unless you really think the SP is irrevocably broken and bullpen will never again hold a lead (plus I'd expect a move (or moves) there in the next week or two) and the offense will continue to strand runners and hit abysmal with RISP - it's important to remember that this is just bad play/luck. It's kind of insane that SO many things could simultaneously go SO wrong for this amount of time. I mean the ASB is basically just an arbitrary point, but at least they get 4 days off now and mentally i think/hope they look at the second half as a "fresh start". The players seem to be obviously pressing and as frustrated as any fan (probably more, I'm sure). But I have full confidence in Maddon and this supremely talented club. Things will turn around soon. They may not be as good as they looked in April, but they are much closer to that level of talent that what they've shown the past three weeks.
  4. That doesn't seem good. Rangers are very good. Cubs are very good, as well, regardless of how they look now. Should be a good series. Mets are losing a SP per day. Brewers suck. White Sox are pretty much an average team. Not scared. Mariners are literally average. See above. Marlins are annoying (seemingly always) but of course beatable. Plus, after today the Cubs won't go on the road again (other than the all stars) until July 21st. And even then it's only to Milwaukee and then directly back to Chicago to play the white sox. So, other than a short trip to Milwaukee, the Cubs essentially won't travel again until August 4th when they go to Oakland (hopefully Hill will be pitching against his old team for that trip). Plenty of time to rest up, regroup, and start kicking ass again. There is literally no reason a team this talented should be playing so poorly. It's just baseball and it'll balance itself out very soon. I'm as frustrated as anyone, but it's an aberration.
  5. epic battle between teeth http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/images/players/head_shot/407793.jpg and nose http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2012%2F0220%2Fmlb_eg_niese_gb1_576.jpg
  6. so still not a setback. point stands. Hmmmm, I'm inclined to agree with you. But when somebody starts a rehab assigment and they are scheduled to play today and decided they can't, it's sort of a setback from the original plan. perhaps. or it could be he realizes he's 90% healthy and taking another several days of rest to prepare for next weekend's series (as opposed to Tuesday's AS game) would be the more prudent decision. I am 100 percent on board with him erring on the side of caution. could you imagine the doom around here had he played in the AS game and re-injured himself?? personally - and this isn't directed at anyone individually - there hasn't been near enough attention to the fact that this tailspin has coincided with Fowler's absence. He's just one player and I get that, but he seems (for whatever reason) to be integral to this team's offense. it could be just a meatball player opinion, but i wholeheartedly expect the cubs to come out in the second half better when dexter re-enters the lineup.
  7. honestly, i'm just praying herrera left the double bubble tub from last year
  8. very good stuff. thanks, tim.
  9. There. may gives me an out to either greater or lesser influence it seems like in all likelihood it won't be a HUGE difference maker. but it may be enough to perhaps sway someone of the fence. though, if things fall apart that could be in either direction. dammit, now i've gone and interjected myself into this rhetorical mess.
  10. if i can step in, it seems like everyone is basically on board with the following two ideas: 1) Wade may have a small to tiny influence in future FA signings 2) There is no downside of Wade in regards to future FA signings
  11. So no setback. He's just being smart and not risking an injury in an exhibition game. because he values the entire second half of the season and doesn't want to risk it. Ah. Yes. TOTALLY horsefeathering understand the pessimism now.
  12. I don't have an answer (that's sort of my mantra) but it was a good documentary when i watched it a couple weeks ago. if i had to guess based on my gut, i'd probably guess that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. i guess it's possible someone could throw 108 but it certainly seems absurd that someone could do it 30-40 years and nobody can do it today (with the benefits of training, nutrition, etc.)
  13. also, this mentality isn't all that different from the "WELL THEY WON'T WIN THE WS BECAUSE THEY ARE THE CUBS lol!!" just saying
  14. they'll win the next two games and have a *tiny* bit of momentum heading into the break. it's frustrating as hell, agreed, but it's an aberration. everyone just take a deep breath and a step back from the ledge.
  15. haha. ok i have to laugh at that throw... wow
  16. inconsistent strike zone. go figure.
  17. Hey! Look at the bright side. Rondon Fan and Ski showed up
  18. that's really not even that bad of a horsefeathering pitch. horsefeathers
  19. i'm so sick and tired of Cubs pitchers being squeezed. seems like a lot lately
  20. haha. before i got sick i was supposed to go with a co-worker to the game tomorrow (he and his family are from Pittsburgh and big Pirate fans). Coincidentally he looks like Anthony Rizzo so I've always just called him "Rizzo". he texted me horsefeathers Rizzo as Feliz was releasing the pitch on my mlb.tv. it was glorious. after typing it out its not a cool story but whatever
