  1. seriously. we have like 3-4 here in (especially compared to Chicago) small Greenville, NC. People buy mattresses, what, every 5 years? at the earliest?
  2. wait. why would "controlling his stuff" require insane athleticism? http://img.bleacherreport.net/img/images/photos/003/578/834/3ca47f3ee8ff5089c910b30e77ff4bd8_crop_exact.jpg?w=1500&h=1500&q=85 Arrieta's stuff isn't the same as Colon's stuff. so for some reason arrieta relies on his crossfit membership to be an effective pitcher while no other pitcher needs that? just trying to follow
  3. It's pretty funny how high people got when we had like 5 of the best 20 starters in baseball, but then when the inevitable regression happens - albeit rather annoyingly in a terrible 3 week stretch - people lose their minds. Did you really expect Lester to maintain a sub 2.00 ERA or Hammel to not turn into a post-June pumpkin? OK, clearly there's a pretty big middle ground they could have and should have ended up in instead of basically leaping from godly to terrible. You're really [expletive] the chicken if you're thinking people are wrong to be at all frustrated over it. this i all correct. but i think what truffle is saying is there is a huge chasm between "frustrated" and "we won't make the playoffs"/"we are terrible"/"how soon until fans wears bags over their heads" rhetoric. Anyone that is a fan is frustrated. it's maturity that comes into play in which you can distance yourself from from frustration to outright craziness. a fleeting comment is understandable. it's the overarching, over-the-top pessimism that is annoying as hell. (not directed at you, just trying to read between his lines and my perceptions)

  5. I pretty much agree, but I would love to move Hammel to the pen and add Hill to the starting rotation. But of course that depends on cost.
  6. lashing out? you're obviously just trolling and perpetuating pessimism. it's annoying as [expletive]. i'm not worried at all. it's frustrating for everyone. what's annoying as hell are these stupid posts that are not insightful or intellectual and do literally no good. complain about the play of the game in the game thread? fine. but talking about bag heads at wrigley is stupid and uncalled for. i know you are smart enough to understand this situation, so stop acting like you're not. you're lying when you say you're not worried about the pitching. there's still a ton to be optimistic about, but this is getting into scary territory that was kind of unthinkable a couple months ago. they are *still* the ERA leader in baseball for starting pitching. it's bizarre as hell, yes. but it doesn't make any sense. regression to the mean was predictable, but just not THIS drastic. it's concerning and frustrating. but nothing seems to indicate that it's from health-related reasons. Theo has pretty much said he will trade for pitching so that's coming soon. EVERY pitcher seems to suck and it's incredibly crazy and frustrating but it is not sustainable - even less sustainable than how amazing they were in April. They're playing 24 games straight as of today and suck lately and have bad luck, etc etc etc. nobody has any answer, but i can guarantee that the pitching will get better. regardless of any trades.

Deeeeep breaths. You're gonna give yourself an attack. lol ok. i quit. you win kyle. hope it made your pathetic day.
  8. i'll blame my weakness to engage on mono. it's as good of an excuse as any, i guess.
  9. stop trolling, ass If you really weren't worried, you wouldn't be lashing out. Relax, it can be fun no matter how they do. lashing out? you're obviously just trolling and perpetuating pessimism. it's annoying as horsefeathers. i'm not worried at all. it's frustrating for everyone. what's annoying as hell are these stupid posts that are not insightful or intellectual and do literally no good. complain about the play of the game in the game thread? fine. but talking about bag heads at wrigley is stupid and uncalled for. i know you are smart enough to understand this situation, so stop acting like you're not.
  10. well not getting a run there would surely be worse luck, right?
  11. PLEASE. STOP. this [expletive] team is still 17 games over .500 So wait like a week? stop trolling, ass
  12. PLEASE. STOP. this horsefeathering team is still 17 games over .500
  13. hat tip for the ump for calling an accurate zone there. feel like that should get credit because it happens so rarely nowadays
  14. It's like all the ridiculous overreactions I make are coming true. A nightmare indeed. have you ever once posted anything other than a ridiculous overreaction?
  15. On the other hand, if they *did* continue their 1-9 pace for the rest of the season, they'd finish 60-102 and might be able to get the No. 1 overall pick. here is a prime example of my OP and kyle, kindly shut the horsefeathers up
  16. to be fair, he may have had a chance had he scooped the ball and fired to first. it was certainly the safer play to get Marte, but i'm not sure it was a sure error in the fact they both would have been safe at 1st and 2nd.
  17. in this vein i would like to petition for our game thread starter to remove heyward from his signature. whenever he removed starlin last year, castro went on a tear.
  18. I'm looking forward to the cubs bringing him back in like 7 years as a utility infielder. he'll be the new ross in 2023
  19. exactly. no player gives a damn about previous coaches being fired. CubbieSwagger, do you think NFL players have this same mentality? What's the turnover in NFL coaches on a season-by-season basis?
  20. didn't they take an extra cautious approach to the starters in ST and limit their innings? or is that your point? yea, my thought is that by holding them back to start spring, they may have ramped them up too quickly to start the regular season. gotcha. yeah, i'm clueless what is going on. it's beyond bizarre. i'm confident that it's an aberration and it'll be sorted out soon enough. the pen needs to be addressed (a bit, at least), but the SP is completely insane. hopefully everyone is healthy, but the peripherals don't seem to indicate that health is the issue. it's baseball and nobody ever knows but i feel like sometime (hopefully soon) things will just "click" again and they'll be right back on track. i sort of hate this phrase, but i don't know any other way to say it. it seems like they've just lost their mojo.
  21. i want the outfield in PNC littered with llamas and zebras by noon today. and dammit throw a jersey on warren the flamingo and have him as 3B coach today
  22. i want the outfield in PNC littered with llamas and zebras by noon today.
  23. this really isn't aimed at anyone particularly, but i'm tired of seeing previous records being posted. yes, the cubs started out historically hot and have been somewhat good/average/bad since. they are playing very bad recently, but they are a reflection of their overall record. 52-35. 17 games over .500. there is no reason or expectation for them to continue on their horrid stretch recently anymore than there is reason or expectation for them to return to their 27-8 form.
  24. didn't they take an extra cautious approach to the starters in ST and limit their innings? or is that your point?
