  1. even if the cubs don't win immediately after the 100 year curse ends, they will win in 2015 over Miami. It's in Back to the Future, it has to be true
  2. first of all, lets lay off the "illegals" as a reason san antonio shouldn't have a team. And you can't judge a city's interest based on a minor league team. Minor league teams don't have the draw because they don't have the talent or the possiblilty of reward for a fan. Would any chicago residents really care if the kane county cougars or the windy city storm won anything? no. But the white sox won and a few people seemed to care. In '03 i'd never seen so many people decked out in cubs gear. My point here is, a potential market can't be counted out on the basis that they don't support baseball. They don't support it because they don't have it, it's like the chicken and the egg thing, only we know which came first.
  3. if you have questions about demspter, look at his splits from last year. as a starter: ERA - 5.35 avg. against - .280 as a reliever ERA - 1.85 avg. against .218 he was way better as a closer last year than as a starter, and one of the best closers last year
  4. 15 teams per league doesn't work because of off days. If you have an uneven number of teams in a league, you need a lot of interleague play or one team is off every day. it might work for splitting up games, but the scheduling of the games doesn't work.
  5. i caught Korea vs CT on live feed, good finish. I'm going to try to stay up for as much of japan vs china as I can... the tokyo dome should be rockin
  6. some bleacher stories from last year... one of the toronto games reed johnson was out in left (as was I) and you can only imagine where that went... and went... and went... and, well, you get the idea (vernon wells got thrown into a few of those too). Also, might have been that same game, Big Z came out of the door and sprayed the crowd with the infield hose, pretty funny.
  7. here's a thought, every few years extend the all-star break to a week or week and a half and play the WBC then. You can cut the field down if you have to, we don't really need italy, netherlands, and some more. Then you could have an actual world baseball classic, not some lame spring training games with different teams
  8. again, i know why they have them, but the games won't be as good as they could be if the players were at full speed
  9. i understand why the have them, i'm just saying it's hindering the competition.
  10. yes, pitch counts are awful. How many games is a high level pitcher pulled after 65 pitches, or even 95 (the final round max). If they have good stuff that day, they can throw 105-120 pitches. Is it going to be fun to watch santana or clemens leave after the fourth inning? even on their best days, pitchers aren't going to top six innings in the first round. And i'm not saying a lot of games are going to be affected by the 14 inning limit, it's the principle, ever notice how the all star game isn't that fun to watch? The WBC is heading down the same trail...
  11. get ready for the biggest mockery of baseball you've ever seen ... and i thought pitch counts were bad
  12. pitching is going to be a little weird in the first rounds with pitch counts. Its sitting around 65 for the first round, i think. So any pitcher gets in trouble and they're out in 2-3 innings, so bullpen is more important in the first round
