  1. Plus Theriot brings a lot more to the table than Cedeno. 10x better plate discipline. Umm, Theriot led the team in 1 pitch outs. Which player faced more pitches per AB? Cedeno. P/PA: Cedeno: 3.68 Theriot: 3.53 This is based on last year's mlb numbers. Cedeno only had 80 at bats. You also gotta look at OBP. Theriot's OBP of .326 is actually really good when you only bat .266. This means he took a lot of walks. Cedeno's OBP was like .230. Theriot's career P/PA is better than Cedeno's. Theriot is a very patient hitter, one of the only few on the Cubs. It's just when he swung at a ball, he didn't miss it often like most of the other Cubs, so his pitches per at bat were less. But like Nevin said, sometimes it is better to swing and miss or foul it off than hit it. I never saw Theriot swing at a pitch that wasnt close to the strike zone. I am shocked to see that his P/PA is lower than most the other guys, because every time i saw him play he was taking the first few pitches down the middle and working the count.
  2. Plus Theriot brings a lot more to the table than Cedeno. 10x better plate discipline. Umm, Theriot led the team in 1 pitch outs. If that is true than I would be completely shocked. Because everytime I saw him bat he would be taking pitches till the count was full. That might be true but I still bet his pitches per at bat was more than most on the team.
  3. Well based on the past, I kinda think they don't. I would rather trade some of these guys while they have value than wait 3 years and trade them when they don't. There have been so many guys we could have traded when they had value and instead we waited till their value was at their lowest point and got nothing. Patterson got us nothing, Sosa got us nothing, Prior got us nothing, Hairston, Izturis, Maddux, Barrett. I'm just saying based on some of these trades or releases, it shows that these guys did have little value. And I would think that a Corey patterson at that time would have a little more value than a Ronny Cedeno or Matt Murton at this time. If we trade Matt Murton to SD, we will get some low level prospect for him, thats it. I think Hill is good, and Pie is a highly ranked prospect, but you have to give something to get Bedard and Roberts! How can you not trade those guys for those 2 when it would clearly put us as the best team in the NL? Plus Theriot brings a lot more to the table than Cedeno. 10x better plate discipline. The ability to hit to all areas of the field. Oh and a batting average higher than .220. Plus better base running. But can we please just end this? It is my opinion and I don't think I'm the only one with it. I like some of our prospects and dont think we should just give them away, but Murton and cedeno are not prospects and most likely wont be on this team this year. My comments are not ridiculous, they are just not the same as your guys'.
  4. Dude, what are you talking about? Marmol's value is not higher than Hill's or Bedard's. Not even close. That trade proposal of yours would be a gigantic disaster. Are you really getting fooled this easily by Bedard's 2007 season? He's good, but not that good. Hill is locked up for cheap. Bedard is expensive and only under contract for 2 more years. Not to mention he's almost 29 and has yet to pitch 200 innings in a season. Is Bedard better than Hill? Yes. Is he so much better that we offer a ridiculous package like that? Not even close. What are we giving up exactly? Sorry I used "we".... What are the Cubs giving up exactly? I think Hill will be a good major leaguer, but he is already 27-28 years old so he isn't really young. Pie is the only other player in the deal who might be worth something to the Cubs but based on what I've seen from him, he really could be another Corey Patterson and "the cubs" might be better off just signing Lofton or putting Fukudome in CF and DeRosa in RF. Pie can be replaced easily. That being said, the rest in my offered trade are just garbage and will never have an impact on the Cubs. Cedeno? Theriot will play over him for the next few years, Theriot brings more to the table than Cedeno. Murton? Where whould he play? Patterson? They say he was the worst defensive 2B in all of baseball. Dempster is getting booed out of Wrigley every night, and people are still complaining about drafting Colvin so early. You have to give up some to get some. I actually think the trade would be something like Hill, Pie, Gallagher, Murton, Cedeno, Dempster, Patterson for Bedard and Roberts. And you guys wouldn't want that? None of those guys will turn out to be stars like Bedard and Roberts. Gallagher, Murton and Cedeno for Roberts is a steal for us...... Hill, Pie, Patterson, and Dempster for Bedard? In my opinion that is a steal for us as well. The package they are getting from Seattle could be better than that. Sorry I dont wanna argue about this anymore. It is my opinion that Bedard is a ridiculously good pitcher and doesnt compare to Hill. And I think that Marmol being a lot younger and could start for us if we chose would be a better starter than Hill and will soon be a stud closer is more valuable than Hill. Just my opinion.... anyways, the Mariners have Bedard and hopefully we can throw some type of Gallagher, Murton, Cedeno, Dempster package for Roberts and Payton.
  5. Wow you guys are rough. Getting mad at fans for saying "we" as in the cubs. Calm down guys. We have no access to the front office but we are dying to know what is going on and what is holding up the deals. Cub fans would love to trade Gallagher, Murton and Cedeno for Roberts. Most of the Orioles fans want that trade as well, so we are all confused to why it hasnt happened yet. So in the mean time while we are bored, we like to try and figure out what is goin on in the front office, thus we use "we". I think that "we" are the cubs and that is fine. I'm a big enough cubs fan to feel it is alright to use the Cubs as "we". It is not a big deal so stop making it one. Thank you... Been an irritation of mine as well, but thats how it goes. It's pretty funny. I saw a lot of it going on at RealGM when the Kobe rumors were flying around ("Will you guys give us Deng if we include Kwame?"). It's one thing to refer to your team as "we" as though you're part of the team, it's quite another (and moronic) thing to act like you make decisions for that team. This is the same type of attitude that results in people thinking "if fans stop going to games, the team's gonna have to really try to win the World Series!" The sooner the average fan realizes they have virtually zero impact on the organization for whom they cheer, everyone will be a lot better off.
  6. Send the invite. I've won each of my fantasy leagues the past 5 years. Please come play in my fantasy league.
  7. You're probably someone who thinks Hill is almost as good as Bedard. Would you trade Hill, Pie, Murton, Cedeno, Patterson, Gallagher, and Dempster for Bedard and Roberts?? I would in a second. But if you take out Hill's name and put in Marmol, I'd have to think about that a little longer. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it, but I wouldn't want to do it. Ok, you're really off base here. Really.
  8. Ummm have you seen Marmol pitch?? He is not as valuable as Bedard but he is close. Meaning that there is NO WAY I would trade Pie, Marmol and the others for Bedard and Roberts. Marmol is more valuable to us than Pie, or hill, or vitters. If you put Marmol in our rotation he is ahead of Hill. Plus like 5 years younger. But I would trade Pie, Hill, Murton, Cedeno, Colvin, Patterson, and Dempster for Bedard and Roberts.
  9. There is a Cubs store in Woodfield Mall and they have a huge rack of just Fukudome Jersey shirts. From Medium to 2XL. Too bad that they are horribly sized and the medium is ridiculously huge on me and made for very fat people. I hate mlb shirts. Did you order that from somewhere or buy it at a retailer? Because every week CubWorld says the item's expected to ship "this week" and I don't have it yet. :|
  10. Jones is a more valuable prospect that Pie. And it looks like Seattle traded another big prospect that they did not want to trade for Bedard. Maybe Clement, Marrow, or Triunfel. If the Cubs wanted Bedard, it would have to have been Pie, Vitters, Colvin, etc...
  11. I hope we can get all 3, that would be amazing! Here is what I would propose: A) Cubs get Bedard and Roberts Orioles get Pie, Hill, Gallagher, Cedeno, Patterson, Veal, and Dempster B) Cubs get Marlon Byrd Rangers get Murton and Marquis C) Sign Lofton Cubs rotation: Zambrano, Bedard, Lilly, Lieber, Marshall Lineup: Roberts, Fukudome, Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, Soto, Byrd/Lofton, Theriot
  12. LOL it was Liefer. god how do u mess that up?
  13. Ok here are some questions u need to ask yourself: 1) Since XBOX is like 150 more and your grandma is willing to pay then maybe go with that. But do you have an HDTV? Cuz Xbox's graphics are better but with an HDTV they are way better. If u dont, then id get the Wii. 2) I got a Wii and I love it. The controls are awesome. Madden is really hard to get used to though, but the Wii Sports game is so fun and Zelda is one of the top 2 best games ever. id probably get the Wii just for Zelda. So do you like zelda? 3) Do you want like a dvd player and stuff in it and do u play online? if u like that stuff go with XBOX 4) Do u like old nintendo games like goldeneye and mario cuz u can download ANY game ever made for Nintendo. My final opinion, get a Wii cuz it has Zelda, and the controls are so awesome and fun. and a lot of games will be comin out. But since price doesnt matter then xbox makes it close.
  14. Cuz Hafner is a DH so he loses a ton of votes. Plus he's on a losing team. Jeter hasn't been getting much attention this year. His power #'s arent up there with Dye's. And the rest of the stats are similar.
  15. Sorry but I disagree. You don't have Dye near the top. I am a die hard Cub fan but Dye's stats are a top the league in every category. Jermaine Dye should be the AL MVP right now by far. Ortiz is a close 2nd but his average isn't near Dye's. And Jeter is up there too but his power #'s aren't there. Dye has both right now, and is so clutch for the Sox. Dye and Beltran for MVP.
  16. I believe "moran" is spelled "moron" SIGH
  17. marshall sucks. hes in the pen.
  18. Carlos Lee in LF 12 million a year Barry Zito or Jason Schmidt 12 million a year Doug Davis or Jason Marquis for about 7 million a year Alfonso Soriano for 12 million a year Save about 20 million from wood and maddux, 7 million from pierre and walker. 43 million spend on free agency means we would have about a 15 million more payroll next year only. That is like 105 million. lineup: 1)Ronny Cedeno SS 2)Alfonso Soriano 2B 3)Derrek Lee 1B 4)Carlos Lee LF 5)Aramis Ramirez 3B 6)Jacque Jones RF (platoon with Murton) 7)Michael Barrett C 8)Felix Pie CF Staff: Prior, Zambrano, Schmidt or Zito, Davis or Marquis, Marshall = world series
  19. Wilson at 1B, Cabrera in RF, murton jacque platoon? is that what u guys want? Lee is back in 2 weeks. I understand Cabrera in LF, Wilson platooning with Jones, but hten u gotta trade murton.
  20. Wood is one of our 3 best pitchers, but he would be a #1 or #2 on all other teams if healthy. Prior for Cano is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. But he does make sense about what other team would be a contender if they lost those guys. Take Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina and ARod off the Yanks. I would think they would be pretty bad. Take Schilling, Beckett, and Manny of the Red Sox.... Pujos, Carpenter and Mulder, Cards would be in last place. Contreras, Buehrle and Thome, the Sox would have 0 wins.
  21. He actually said he was gonna put it up on the Wrigley Field scrolling sign outside the stadium, which makes it even funnier.
  22. Barett is the possibly the best NL catcher, but its a catcher and they arent really important. I can think of 15 other NL 1B who are better than Jackson right now since he wont even see playing time for half the games. Theres about 9 better NL 3B than Zimmerman, so you got the bottom there. Lopez is probably the 5th-6th best NL SS so thats ok but I still dont like him. Beltran is a top 5 NL OF, GIles is top 10, and Tracy isnt far behind that, so OF is good, Utility is fine if you had Murton and then a good player, but Nady is brutal. Much rather start Klesko there. You have 1 NL closer and he isnt really proven yet. I dont know how many holds the others will get. SP is just bad, Pedro is good but hurt already. Penny isnt really ranked high this year. So you have 1 SP in the top 5, the rest are like top 30. I guess it's ok, but its hard to judge in just an NL only league.
  23. Ouch buddy. Sorry to say it, but that's really bad. I'm guessing you picked Pedro or Utley 1st, the other 2nd, Beltran 3rd, Giles 4th, and everyone else off the WW??? Your pitching is really really bad. I'm sorry but possibly the worst team i've ever seen, even in NL only.
  24. Yeah I bought SRO tix for the 4/21 game vs the Cubs. I wish I had some seats! SRO better not suck.
