Speaking of dumb GM's. I love remembering the awesomeness that is the Ryan Howard contract extension. 5 years, $125 mil, while he was already under contract for 2 more seasons and would be 32 when the extension started. Glorious.
You won't hate him as much as you think. It will be hard to focus your hate on one individual player so you will just hate Soler, Bryant, Russell, Rizzo and Schwarber as a collective group. Have a feeling he or Soler will be my Jim Edmonds.
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/diving-into-first-base-maybe-not-crazy/ As the link notes, this is not about injuries. This is purely about whether diving or running through the bag is faster. Take your injury arguments elsewhere. I've long been in the minority (I think) by believing that diving could be (theoretically) slightly faster than running through the bag, but I know everyone has strong opinions on this. But did the author hit .500 in HS?
Cubs go 5-7, miss play in game by 1 game, meatballs meatball. Olt/LaStella/whomever hit .400/.500/.600 for 12 games, Cubs go 5-7, miss play in game by 1 game, meatballs still meatball.
Sad story, but you guys realize that like half of it is complete bull [expletive] right? How so For starters, you don't get knocked out and wake up hours or days later unless you're in a movie.
