  1. More evidence that Hossa will suit up on Wednesday. Bickell back to Rockford. Tough break for him, but he'll be back after some trades, I think. http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/2966
  2. Yeah, I picked up the Lions D in two leagues. Ouch. I considered it. I've been floating from one defense to the next the last several weeks, looking for vulnerable offenses. And for the most part I've been burned. Tennessee getting the two pick-6's in the last three minutes of their game last week was the exception. I've been doing a decent job to this point. I've got two leagues where I'm playing matchups each week and I've done decently (including having Tennessee's D last week in both). I thought this week would be a pretty good bet despite the still-developing Lion defense, but apparently not. The problem is when I grab the defense of a team that has a mediocre offense. Because inevitably their crappy QB will throw picks and put the defense in awful situations. But it really is a crapshoot. I went with Philly's defense last night and it turned out to be a terrible play. Go figure. Staying with them at home against Washington next week though. That should be a good matchup.
  3. Foley said he'll be in action on Wednesday. Can't wait. Going to have a house full of people by 9:30 on Wednesday for the holiday, but thankfully a few of them are Hawks fans so we'll be commandeering a TV to watch this one. It was going to be a must-see even without Hossa coming back.
  4. I agree. I read about Filatov's problems a few weeks ago. I haven't seen much of Columbus this year, but I understand that Hitch has really put a muzzle on him and is expecting too much two-way play out of him. Now, I have expected the exact same thing out of Kane so far, but Q has taken the right approach with him. Columbus is obviously a team on the rise. If they falter, I agree, Hitch will have to go.
  5. agreed. Nah, Stamkos showed great hand-eye coordination, but Perron's took more overall skill. And it's not like he breezed just any defenseman -- Streit is pretty good.

  7. Believe it or not, Stan turning 89 took up several articles in the paper here over the last few days. [expletive], if he makes it to 90 they might just shut the city down and declare a holiday. I don't mean to denigrate his career, but the hero worship of the Cardinals in this town borders on unhealthy.
  8. I know it doesn't mean anything, but still pretty cool to see. #1 in power rankings on ESPN: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/powerranking?season=2010&week=9
  9. I loved how during the playoffs last year the sports radio stations were all Hawks all the time. I wonder how long it will take for that to happen this year. I know it's still early in the regular season, but you're right. They are the only show in town at this point.
  10. It's really money well spent. I may regret very much paying for Sunday Ticket (though it is great for fantasy), but Center Ice has been excellent. Get to watch/listen to Pat and Eddie most every game, almost all games in HD.
  11. Incredible. Amazing game by Niemi. Take a few days off now before tangling with San Jose again on Wednesday.
  12. This has been a really well-played defensive game. The Hawks have been outshot by quite a bit, but it almost seems by design. That wasn't the game they wanted to play after playing last night. If they pull this off, it's impressive. They can win 7-1, they can win 1-0. Outstanding.
  13. Yeah Madden has been a huge help in that area and Toews has improved immensely.
  14. That should probably be the last shift of the game for the checking line. That was rough.
  15. Niemi is playing a hell of a game.
  16. I'll be happy if we can get 1 out of this, but hopefully we can keep this lead Man, Vancouver charges a per-game PPV fee to watch certain games. $13, or $16 for HD. Guess it's like the old Hawk Vision that Wirtz used to do. I'll bet Vancouver gets a lot of buys though.
  17. How sick would it be to start the circus trip 3-0 again? Wow. I was pretty sure they were going to drop this one. Of course they still might...
  18. Alright Bickell! Nice job by Kane waiting for Campbell, and then Campbell taking it hard to the net. Nice work all around.
  19. They really asked him that? I guess trying to get him to make a lame excuse like that. I hate reporters sometimes.
  20. Time to start over. As much as I want to blame this one on Lovie and Ron, this game is on Cutler. No question about it.
  21. More awesome play calling. This team is dog [expletive].
  22. They called that? You have to be kidding.
  23. Why does Hester just sprint for the sideline now? Oh well, Cutler, plz find it.
  24. How painful is this gonna be?
  25. That was a perfect call. It might have lost the Bears the game. The throw lost them the game, not the call.
