  1. I'm nit gonna typically defend him, but he was trying to get over the low block and out a hit on at the same time. I don't think it was as bad as it looked. I might give other guys the benefit of the doubt, but Meriweather is always diving head first into a scrum like a [expletive] moron. This is an embarrassing showing by this offense.
  2. Seriously. I hate a lot of guys on this team, but he's at the top of the list.
  3. One concern with Kane at center is it would open him up to more physical contact out there so having Carcillo around could be very helpful. It's a terrible idea. If you don't want Kane more exposed to open ice hits, don't have him play center. The reason he is playing center is to get the puck on his stick more and let him be the best passer in the league he is and feed his wingers. Not passing to Daniel bleeping Carcillo. Hopefully this is just practice fun with 3 days before the next game. My biggest criticism of Q continues to be his roulette lines game. I agree on the line shuffling -- it was pretty stupid that he was shuffling lines 10 minutes into the first game of the season. Kane's actually been throwing a few checks, and not looking completely ridiculous doing it. I'll give Carcillo a chance, but it seems like he'll slow things down.
  4. Carcillo skating with Hossa and Kane? Hmmm. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/chi-blackhawks-carcillo-im-ready-20111010,0,6254459.story
  5. 3,000 years of beautiful tradition, from Moses to Sandy Koufax... But really, I don't see how this drags on more than another day or two.
  6. It's following a familiar arc.
  7. Now that Carcillo is done being suspended, maybe they'll send Scott down. I really wish Frolik had taken that empty net himself just to get that first goal under his belt. You know, I was thinking the same thing about Frolik. But he'd have probably shot it wide, which would have messed up his head even more. Scott was worthless, as usual. And I couldn't help but notice how winded Mayers was after that fight. He was really sucking wind -- just reminded me that he's old. O'Donnell looks slow too, but I like him and Montador as the last defensive pairing. And I love watching Nick Leddy. Minnesota's GM has to feel like a real dope these days. That guy is really smooth and is developing one heck of a shot. Four days until Buff and Ladd return to the UC. Looking forward to watching the Jets game tonight. Their fans deserve this.
  8. Won't the guy "who gets that a lot" will call the Trib and identify himself when (if) he hears about this story? Until then, I'm putting on my purple-shirt-colored glasses. I'm buying it. EDIT: Okay, so I read the last two pages but somehow missed imb! saying the exact same thing 15 minutes ago. :banghead: I'm still buying it.
  9. That was one hell of a shot.
  10. Haha, suck it refs and suck it Dallas. 3-0!
  11. What a horrible penalty call on Toews.
  12. Looking much better tonight. And Scott still sucks.
  13. Kane has been a magician at times tonight. Time to cash in one of these PPs.
  14. Frolik still can't finish. I'll forgive Pirri missing a wide open net, but Frolik is too much of a veteran for that crap.
  15. God yes and it doesn't take an ounce of thought to get to that decision. I'd say we've been legit rivals with the Brewers for like 4 years. Yeah, I still have trouble mustering up the effort to look at the Brewers at rivals outside of the fact they technically play in the division. If they didn't have guys as easily hateable as Braun I doubt I'd rate them any higher than the Pirates or the Astros. [expletive], I hate the Reds more than the Brewers, and usually I forget the Reds even exist. Yeah, this. But I'm obviously biased, since I live among these damn mouthbreathers.
  16. Crawford = really good Offense = really disorganized
  17. Wife wanted to go see Ides of March tonight, which I do really want to see. But no. So she says, what about tomorrow night? No. Doghouse. Thanks Hawks.
  18. Already? I've had this day circled for five months. :yahoo:
  19. I don't think anyone's saying we care what their opinion is as to the ultimate question. But it's interesting to hear that they (Boston fans) are reacting to the tap dance the same way that we (Cubs fans) are. Depending on your biases, you can hear different things - so it's interesting that we all heard the same thing. So, you're saying uwannafightaboutit.
  20. I laughed. Not saying I called it during the game thread, but I did: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-meriweather-fined-20000-for-hit-on-panthers-smith-20111006,0,7893084.story
  21. This is clearly good news.
  22. OP said it best. WTF? I think this is a combination of several things, a few mentioned here. First, fan favorite, which I'm sure they think will help ticket sales. Second, they didn't want to spend a lot of money. And third, Kenny Williams is an idiot and is taking a complete shot in the dark on the off chance that it looks out and he looks like a genius. Sort of like when I bet on the horse with the highest odds at the track just because the payoff is so high. But I never win. Nolan Ryan was my favorite player as a kid, and he cemented it when he beat Ventura's ass.
  23. They aren't asking these questions because they are just saying stupid [expletive] to get people to read what they have to say. Call it a relic of a dying industry that instead of working hard and tracking down good stories, they publish crap like that. There is no way this team is giving up either of those guys for a GM.
  24. "Come on, give me that booze you pumpkin-pie-hair-cutted freak."
  25. They have been beating around the bush since last week and certainly the last few days. They are going to address this. They have to. Didn't Henry all but say on Twitter they would clarify where things stand tomorrow?
