  1. He pretty clearly stepped out though.
  2. This is horrid. How can the D turn so bad so fast?
  3. 9 in the box. No matter.
  4. Oh Jesus do we not have a kicker?
  5. There's a lot more 3rd and 4th line guys than the Crosby's (bitch) and Toews' of the world. If the rank and file players become unified and want to make a deal things can go south really quick for the players which will be to the detriment of all of them most likely. The top players still do not have to play. That is why they have all the power in the union as well Apparently the "rank and file" can call for a vote so long as there is a proposal on the table. Which right now there is not. Someone asked Alfredsson about the possibility of such a vote, and all he would say is that he "hopes that does not happen."
  6. There's a lot more 3rd and 4th line guys than the Crosby's (bitch) and Toews' of the world. If the rank and file players become unified and want to make a deal things can go south really quick for the players which will be to the detriment of all of them most likely. I agree, though I don't know how they go about that internally. If they go public again like Hamrlik did a few weeks ago, that's just blood in the water for Bettman and Jacobs and they'll only get more extreme.
  7. That's my thing. Is Fehr an egotistical [expletive] who doesn't care one bit about the NHL or the game of hockey? Yes. But that doesn't absolve the owners of their outrageous behavior from the very start of this thing. I saw a few tweets last night suggesting the 3rd and 4th line type players are getting really frustrated. And like I said before, the owners knew this would happen. One of the NHL Radio guys keeps saying there will be a deal when both sides are ready to make a deal. I honestly believe the PA was ready to make a deal this week, even if Fehr was arguing that they should hold out for a better deal. The owners issuing this take-it-or-leave-it offer and demanding that Fehr stay out of the room, and then ultimately breaking off talks shows they are not serious about getting a deal done. Simple as that.
  8. Seriously this whole dance today, and really this whole week, has been another chapter in an organized effort to bend over the union. The owners do not mind losing the season. There are bigger objectives at stake for them. Bettman said as much tonight. And Fehr took the bait. That's his mistake. But he has constituents that sincerely wanted to make a deal. The league does not.
  9. I just listened to both press conferences. [expletive] Bettman.
  10. This has reached the absurd today. And I'm on the players side more than ever.
  11. That's the mode I'm in too. Can't wait to complain about how many soft goals Crawford's going to allow this year! I am concerned if we fall into one of those ruts where we make the playoffs somewhat comfortably every year but never really challenge for the cup or even the finals. I think something gets done today or tomorrow or not at all. They are just too close at this point. Apparently length of contract and length of the CBA are the two last sticking points. One thing I've heard very little about is realignment. They have to deal with the Winnipeg situation as part of this too I would think, since the PA quashed the league's realignment plan several months ago.
  12. Yeah I should know better but I'm geeked up after reading stuff like this: http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/2012/12/05/bettman-wants-a-deal-by-friday-nhl-insider-nick-kypreos-says/
  13. Interesting. The morning yappers on NHL Radio this morning made casual reference to the idea that they could get a deal done this week and then start right after the new year. But who knows. I have to imagine everyone wants to play as many games as possible, so they'll be aggressive if they can get a deal done.
  14. I recall hearing he was skating and working out a few months ago but haven't heard anything since. I would imagine if he was cleared to skate it wouldn't be too much longer before he was cleared to play assuming no setbacks. But who knows.
  15. @SunGarrioch: Doug MacLean suggests if they can get a deal by Friday a 56-game season starting on Dec. 20th. #NHL
  16. They couldn't possibly start the season in 10 days could they? If they did there's going to be at least 2 months of terrible hockey and injuries galore as the players play themselves into shape. Yeah that was the talk before that it would take about 10 days to get things cranked up. Seems crazy. I think the NBA had about 16-17 days last year. But that's what they've been saying. And at this point games are only cancelled through December 14. And sure there are probably some guys who are out of shape and susceptible to injury, but there are a couple hundred or so guys playing overseas and many more in the AHL. And there are a lot of informal workouts being held by the players. So I think that concern is probably overblown. I'm seriously bummed out without the pucks. My optimism is therefore probably over the top here, I admit.
  17. I don't want to say that Boston reporter was right because clearly it was just speculation, but with a long day of meeting today they've pulled me in to being very optimistic that something will get done in the next two days. If so they can start on December 15 as currently scheduled. That would have the Hawks opening here in St. Louis.
  18. Yahoo's "recaps" each week include a stat about what your record would be if you played every other team every week. I would be 68-48-1. I assume that's somewhat good. My record is 7-6 but have second most points in the league. I'm interested in this idea. FF is arbitrary enough. Anything that makes results more closely reflect points scored is a plus.
  19. Schaub, Forte, Ridley, and I guess Hilton. But Harvin if he's close to 100%. I really don't have any question marks. Weird. I've got half a mind to bench Gore for Fred Jackson but won't do it.
  20. @Panger40: @jprutherford @wbzsports And I am about to grow hair again. Is that cynical? #Holyjumpin Pretty much. What, did this guy see Bettman at the airport?
  21. Yeah sensed there were whispers of something on Twitter. But skeptical until some other reputable people get on board with this.
  22. Take the top 3. Yeah, Brown vs the Boys isn't a good matchup Talked myself into benching Nicks instead. Brown+Bryant overcame a 46-point deficit, and I snuck into the last playoff spot. I was down 17 going into last night. Had Brown, Bryant and Murray. Life is good. I'm now up 55 and opponent has Cruz and Morris tonight. I'm confident, cautiously.
  23. This is on Lovie and Tice with the stupid ass conservative calls in the second half.
  24. Clearly a TD. There are no words.
