What they should do is set up an opening night outdoor game. Make opening night a spectacle like the NFL and MLB do. I always feel like the hockey season opens and nobody is really paying attention. Maybe that's because the playoffs just ended a few weeks earlier. But whatever. My point is, have 3-4 games. Opening night, New Years, I like the Super Bowl week idea, and then during hockey weekends in the US and Canada. I guess that's 5. And here's another thing. It's a TV spectacle, but everyone says the sightlines for fans in the arenas suck. They should look at playing them in smaller outdoor venues like MLS arenas. Maybe that negates so much revenue it wouldn't be worth it though.
