  1. They have two buyouts they should just use one on him. Here's the whole situation: http://www.capgeek.com/blackhawks/ There's work to be done but it's not catastrophic. I guess Raanta and Hutton will compete for the backup job. Either way they'll be quite a bit cheaper than Emery was. With revenue projections for the league soaring the next few years, the cap will likely go right back up to where it was and beyond pretty quickly. That's what makes me think reupping Toews and Kane won't be an issue. Just one nagging feeling. Winnipeg and Buffalo could lure them home. They've already won their cups. I can see them saying they'd like to play at home, especially Toews.
  2. I haven't crunched the numbers. You're right Emery is gone for sure. And good for him he'll probably get a raise and perhaps a chance to play more. I wouldn't pay Bickell what the market will bear for him. I still think someone will give him $4-5m over 4-5 years. No thanks.
  3. This is from Twitter so it must be true: @JGregs17: Amount of times said we or I in post champion interviews with Toews and Lebron. No exaggeration. http://t.co/jxJMBjFQhx
  4. Hahaha. Apparently the Blue are interested in Briere. If the money is right I like it.
  5. In an attempt to be objective, I could see putting it ahead of basketball (mainly because I hate the way the World Basketball Federation is officiated) and I'd agree with goony that a comparison with football isn't really a fair comparison (really with any sport). I will blindly and biasedly (I don't know that to be a word) put baseball ahead of it all day, though. most playoff baseball games are just as boring as regular season games. Nah. On everything you just said. I've really become disinterested in baseball the last several years. In 2007-08, I was as rabid a fan as they come. And those October flameouts were obviously disappointing. But around that same time the Hawks were rising and I started watching a lot more of their games again, including the playoffs. And the excitement is just so much greater to me in hockey that it made watching baseball seem like something old people do to pass the time. Even when the Hawks are down, Pat Foley still has a pretty great gig. Even regular season games have energy. I just feel bad for Len and JD these days. Can you imagine watching that crap and trying to make it interesting every day? All that said, I admit I may be singing a different tune once the Cubs contend again.
  6. @TimSassone: Patrick Kane will be on the Late Show with David Letterman tomorrow. #Blackhawks
  7. What can we expect for their next contracts? Are they going to have to decide for one over the other? They will both get raises of a couple million each, and they will both almost certainly remain Blackhawks. Both seem to absolutely love playing in Chicago and they are the two faces of the franchise. I wouldn't be too worried, our dynamic duo should be around for a long, long time. I know it is too soon to talk about this kind of stuff, but I suspect that the Hawks will buy out Hossa after next season and split his money up and give it to Toews/Kane. I think they will get 8.5 a piece. Yeah, Hossa seems like the logical buy out next season. He just needs to be healthy can't buy out an injured player I don't think. Disc and nerve injuries scare me. Regardless, Rocky will be writing him a check.
  8. Yeah there was no way I was getting much sleep. Today's going to suck but I don't care.
  9. Was just about to order a shirt and dad texted me: "hey I'm buying shirts for you and your sister let me know which one you want." Now I'm about to order a puck and a glass. Hate that the Cup replica is $50. Those things are nice but not for $50. The puck goes in my office with the 2010 puck. The Blues fans love that.
  10. Just went ahead and ordered my puck and shirt.
  11. wow, what an insane [expletive] Seriously. Hockey players are the best. This is so awesome.
  12. Draft this weekend, free agency next weekend, banner raises in about 100 days. Praise be to Rocky.

  16. And Toews had his "bell rung" last game and wasn't cleared to return.

  19. Dunc with the kid out there. That's awesome.
  20. Hahaha Shaw just set a land speed record for f bombs on national TV.
  21. David [expletive] Bolland
  22. Doesn't everyone boo Bettman, though? sure, then they boo Kane, then the Blackhawks in general, then Toews I didn't hear much booing at all for anyone other than Bettman. Yeah it was just for Bettman I think.
  23. Oh yeah I got in on the Hawks at 7-1 before the season started in Vegas. Nice cherry on top.
  24. Johnny, give it to Crow first.
