Meh; everyone at the Network has been slobbering over Arrieta that he either was chosen or decided to be the one guy who locked on to Cole. He's been doing it for almost a couple of weeks now. So, Plesac is taking the hipster approach then? Sort of like a 22 year old with student loans wearing a Trump trucker hat? That, or he just wants people to pay attention to him.

Outside of August he's been damn good this season. When did I say he wasn't good? Well, saying he's not likely to be used outside of some crazy outlier of a game seems to be implying he's not bringing much value. The playoff rotation only being Arrieta/Lester/Pitching smorgasbord doesn't seem too realistic. lmfao Not that it'll really help, but I've had both my dad and a friend of mine adamantly declare in the last week that Hendricks and Hammel should have no part of the post-season, so that definitely was on my mind. This was the same friend who was convinced that the Cubs were doomed after they got rid of Barney because he was the "true leader" of the team.

My uncle is a diehard Pirates/all things Pittsburgh fan and he sent me a text last night basically congratulating the Cubs for winning already and complaining about how "knew the Pirates were toast for weeks now." I am completely baffled as to what he saw that made him give up on one of the best teams in baseball, but hey, I'll take it.

I still maintain that Coghlan's fWAR is the best argument right now that defensive metrics are still basically some unholy combination of alchemy and voodoo and not to be trusted.
