  1. Apparently Rizzo spilled the beans to Barnhart in the 8th inning. https://detroitsportsnation.com/anthony-rizzo-tells-tigers-c-tucker-barnhart-that-elvin-rodriguez-is-tipping-pitches/wgbrady/mlb/detroit-tigers-news/06/05/2022/279511/
  2. I'm not posting this here as news; that was done in the minor leagues forum. I'm posting this here because [expletive] that dude has a magnificent caboose. [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. It isn't too late. I don't care if the Cubs trade Happ, but they should re-sign Contreras and let him be the bridge to the future. Yadi is 39 years old, and now especially with the DH, there's no reason Willy can't be productive for another 4-5+ years. it’s just rank sentimentality, but I’d like it if a core member of the 2016 squad made it til retirement as a Cub. Sorry, it'll be Fartface McGee and nobody else.
  4. I can't stop laughing at this video: https://defector.com/flyers-scott-laughton-struggles-to-raise-flag-stares-directly-into-the-sun/ He's struggling so horsefeathering hard with life in that clip. That's gotta be a monumental hangover.
  5. It's a copy of The Show '20, and whoever is the player of the week gets their face taped over Javi's on the cover.
  6. Yup. They projected as a 75-80 win team, and the underlying #s (I.e. controlling for their horsefeathers 1-run game record) think that's exactly what they've been Shoot for mediocrity and terribleness is on the table. That's just part of putting together a baseball team. Pining for the 2022 Cubs to have been as "good" as they should have been:
  7. I'm gonna go ahead and make this same move as well Yeah, ditto for me, too (if I can).
  8. While 100% true, is there any context for mentioning this? Me being bored and completely tuned out of baseball (even more than usual) and looking up the Baseball Reference Encyclopedia entries for them and the Cubs (and the Nationals, too. So, hey, the Cubs aren't alone!).
  9. The continued success of the Astros and Dodgers should make everyone who runs the Cubs hide their flabby faces in shame.
  10. That montage should one of the best arguments for robot umps; almost all of them are clearly the ump being duped by the catcher moving the glove back into or close enough to the zone.
  11. You can’t make team of replacement players. Maybe you make a bullpen out of them, but not an entire team. So we should overpay Contreras because the rest of the team sucks? One would have thought they would have overpaid for at least one of the core from the WS team, but nope, can't even toss the fans a bone. Everyone's gotta go as soon as they would actually cost any kind of money because the billionaire owners are determined to self-cap their payroll at the middle of the pack at best AKA they completely horsefeathering lied their asses off as to how horsefeathers like buying up all the Wrigley property and starting their shitty TV network were going to play out. Like, I seriously doubt anyone here thinks Contreras is going to be some kind of game changers for the team, but, horsefeathers, could they at least pretend they're not not doing anything except aiming for sneaking into the playoffs every few years while spending as little as they think they can get away with with a big market team like this? This is a self-imposed constraint.
  12. funny, he used to make radio appearances all the time. wonder why he stopped? Face for radio; voice not fit for human consumption.
  13. Surprised Ricketts didn’t have him sit in the jump seat Ricketts acts like Catch Me If You Can is a financial planner.
  14. Drop: Austin Meadows and his sickly ass Add: Kyle Schwarber I think that should work since I accidentally overcharged myself $50 for Ohtani.
  15. Well, yeah; these owners want to explicitly run these teams like a business above all else, so people are going to be pissed when those businesses produce a willfully shitty product. "Look, we know the food at our restaurant has been getting worse, so I'll tell you what I'm gonna do: I'm going to change distributers, but they'll be cheaper and the food will be worse, AND I'll keep raising prices. But make sure to buy plenty of gift certificates on the way out!"
