  1. Uh, not for non-sports stuff. There's "Social" and "Rants." fair. the off topic stuff was what i was mainly thinking of as the place for some megathreads. i guess it depends on how granular you would want to get with that stuff and how much the traffic does or doesn't warrant it. I'm kinda with you; I don't mind the megathreads, but would prefer more subforums. Like, one for politics, movies, music, food, etc.. Having a broader off topic forum still makes sense, and rants is fine. I think a "serious topics" forum is a decent idea, too. I know I'm biased, but I think the non-sports posters/topics have been doing a LOT of the legwork in keeping this place from being a ghost town.

  3. Personally, I'm not knocking any of this for any of the changes are inevitably coming; it's just how it is. Tim's not at fault for selling the place, and the buyers aren't at fault for wanting to try and turn their purchase into something along the lines of what has already worked for them. I just think the identity/environment of this place has been defined, for years now, by a bunch of weirdos spending way too much time on an almost forgotten message board, which doesn't exactly jive with any kind of business plan or whatever to make this an actually successful business venture. That's just how it is, and pretty much anytime I've seen something similar goes down it results in much of the original posters slowly posting less and less and then going away. If that's what happens, eh, that's life.
  4. do you think they're regretting this purchase yet This is becoming an awesome thread. One guy is trying to tell us all how great it's going to be while the rest of us are basically ignoring him and fixated on Kyle's former life and cracking wise about stupid horsefeathers. You can take the Tim out of NSBB, but you can't take the NSBB out of NSBB. Just taking it in while we can (though, TBH, even that sounds too melodramatic). But, really, this place is going to hugely change if all of this goes into effect, and a bunch of the current regulars will likely slowly disappear because of it. That's not some kind of ridiculous "threat" about flouncing or whatever; I'm sure we've all seen this happen countless times over with various boards or sites or blogs and whatnot. Whenever a plan is rolled out to "upgrade" something to get more eyes/clicks on it, the edges always get sanded off. A lot of the stuff that keeps a lot of us here (namely the non-sports topics and, quite frankly, what we're able to get away with) will inevitably be curbed or will just go away, and, eh, that's just what happens with these sorts of deals.
  5. Hey, quit stealing imb's thunder. Is this referencing what I hope it's referencing But of course. Made fatherhood even more impressive.
  6. Wait, I'm pretty positive the sliding into first guy was someone else, too. Thatsthejoke.gif
  7. yeah the gravy is 100% for sure not da bum. it was some rando We should credit Bum with all the great stuff. Da Bum hand-timed a bunch of his friends running 90 feet and proved that diving into first is slightly faster. Wait, I'm pretty positive the sliding into first guy was someone else, too.
  8. Totally; this place was even more fun when there was a ton of traffic. You end up with a little something for everyone.
  9. NSB is technically right, but a place this charmingly defective has always been and always will be NSBB.
  10. Yeah, but honestly, sometimes that's just more hassle than it's worth. Especially if I wanna watch it on an actual tv. Seriously, it's really simple so long as you've got an HDMI cable to spare. Let me know if you want to try it during the season.
  11. I think this is the year I’m back. I haven’t subscribed to anything that helped me watch games in two years. I’ve been in a doctoral program that finishes up in May, and they’ve just been uninteresting. Even the games I could watch were against the pirates with pirates broadcasters. Brutal. But maybe I’ll have more time, and maybe they’ll be watchable. We’ll see. Some interesting story lines anyway. Bellinger will never be an mvp caliber player again, but what if he returns to a 110 ops+? What if Nico takes another step forward? Will the young pitching really be a strength? Will one of Wisdom, Morel, or Madrigal take the job at third? Is David Bote still alive and who killed him? Their hope, mystery, and intrigue. Or meh. Hey, I'm willing to subscribe to something...MLB.tv...a Marquee streaming service. But what I'm not willing to do is pay a bunch of money for a live tv streaming service. I'm over paying for my tv in big groups of channels I don't watch. And since the Cubs are blacked out for me on MLB.tv (unless that's changed) and Marquee doesn't offer a streaming service that I can pay for, I'm out of luck.
  12. That was probably my favorite. The Netherlands is pretty nice too although I'm not crazy about the color scheme. Great Britain's hat is freaking awful. What the hell is that font? Cockney Rhyming Sans.
  13. Like, make America's a big sloppy cheeseburger, you horsefeathering cowards.
  14. Man, they should all just put some logo or symbol or whatever the horsefeathers on the front instead of a dumb letter. China's the only one that comes close to that besides Israel. Edit: totally missed the Netherlands crown.
  15. Jed still keeping the inexplicable "nah, we don't want more guys who can throw fastballs" dream alive.
  16. Agreed, keep the Brady discussion in the "Eat the Rich" thread where it belongs No way; send him to the bad dog thread.
  17. Yeah, horsefeathers cancer. Lin was my go-to morning listen before work when I lived in Chicago. Just a super positive guy.
  18. Based on his name, some kind of bag of magic coins or an enchanted amulet or something else that will help us on our noble quest to save the kingdom of Eltheria.
  19. Yeah, the only way the Bears somehow had the 14th ranked OL is if some other teams' QBs died on the field.
  20. AKA Basketball Purgatory
  21. I'm sorry, a team simply cannot have both a Tucker Barnhart AND a Dansby Swanson on the same roster. These names are absurd, and clearly made up either for a video game or a Young Republicans convention.
  22. Poles has no limitations next offseason, a bounty of resources to get it correct, if there isn't marked improvement on both sides of ball next season. He, without question, should be removed because, if he cannot get it right with that number of resources, he'll never get it right. That's the endless Bears cycle.
  23. It's never a surprise when the Cubs fall short.
