  1. Niese a lefty or a righty?
  2. Why would you expect more out of Edmonds than Soriano?
  3. First Cubs game I've been able to watch all of in about a week. A win would be nice.
  4. Obviously, it does nothing to breakdown individual players, but my comment was in response to the general statement of "once again, the overachieving offense..." That statement wasn't any kind of breakdown of the players. I'm not even talking about individual players. The pythag does nothing to tell you about whether the offense is over or underachieving. It tells you if the team is over/underachieving based on its ability to score runs combined with its ability to prevent them. It doesn't in any way tell you if the offense is scoring more runs than it "should" be. Fair enough. I also mixed up the quote in my last post. He said "overachieving," not under. How would an overachieving offense relate to their pythag? I really don't know...I can't figure out how one could argue an offense playing above its head is below where it should be record-wise. Crappy defense? Underperforming pitching?

  6. Again you focus on insults instead of telling me what was wrong with my statement. All I did was question whether or not we'd be able to get the same production out of overachieving players and I get jumped all over. You're not allowed to be pessimistic on NSBB. Stop it. I never said that. I simply find it interesting that he constantly went after CubsGM in thread after thread for being too negative at the drop of a hat, and now you're doing the same thing. I actually share some of your concerns, but if anything goes wrong at any point in a game and you're online, here comes a barrage of doom and gloom...the same stuff you got all over another poster for. That said, your overachieving offense statement is absurd. I brought up the pythag because it agues that they offense has actually underachieved, not overachieved. Unless you think the Cubs' record this year hinges far more on the pitching than the offense which is leading or close to the top in all major caegories, I can't see any reasoning behind your statement except for kneejerk complaining and griping a la CubsGM, just dressed up less trollish.
  7. The main concern I have is Edmonds likely having lost his swerve. His prolonged hot streak basically made up for Lee. Now that Edmonds is likely out of gas, that's trouble.
  8. How odd. dextermorgan was obsessed with CubsGM when he was here...now that CubsGM is banned, dextermorgan has BECOME CubsGM.
  9. SHOW VALVERDE, DAMMIT!!! Bastards. I was robbed.
  10. Love me some Valverde. He is made of pure entertainment.
  11. Lulz to the statement about the "overachieving offense" towards a team actually below its pythag.
  12. He's the crappy 25th player that he, Theriot and Fontenot were all likely to be coming into the season. Thankfully, Cedeno is now the only crappy 25th man on the team.
  13. Looking through the game logs from this month, that isn't really true. I think it's more that the pitchers decide to attack him outside the zone. From those at-bats, he takes a lot of called balls on pitch number 1, but otherwise it's about a 50/50 ratio of Cedeno either swinging at the first pitch versus taking a called strike. "I know what I saw" fails yet again. Stats = good.
  14. Which way is the wind supposed to be blowing at gametime?
  15. Seriously, can "the Pete Sampras of assholes" be the tag under his screenname? That is beyond hysterical ad should be worn as a badge of honor.
  16. Ironically, I think Cedeno has conditioned himelf to essentially never swing at the first pitch, and the first one get was a juicy one right down the middle. I just take issue with Soto not batting for either Cedeno or especially Blanco.
  17. There's no way of knowing if Lou called it or if DeRo did it on his own. Len seemed to indicate that DeRo was doing it on his own... Fine, but Lou needs to react accordingly. Soto should have been hitting for Cedeno or Blanco. Then who plays SS in the 9th? I can't remember if Fontenot was used already. If he had, Soto can only PH for Blanco. If not, put Fontenot or DeRo at SS. Yeah, dicey, but it's ideally after the Cubs hae driven in an insurance run or more and have at least a 2-run lead for the 9th.
  18. There's no way of knowing if Lou called it or if DeRo did it on his own. Len seemed to indicate that DeRo was doing it on his own... Fine, but Lou needs to react accordingly. Soto should have been hitting for Cedeno or Blanco. I love that they won and everything luckily ended up falling into place, but this is 2 games in a row they've won in spite of REALLY stupid late inning decisions by Lou.
  19. Horrible, horrible, horrible managing by Lou in the bottom of the 8th. DeRo is hot, but I wouldn't have minded having him bunt if basically anyone but Cedeno was up next...and then not PHing Blanco with Soto? Come on, Lou.
  20. Wow, what a suicide pitch with 2-0 on Fonzie, and he made them pay.
  21. I would have preferred Soto, but I can see holding onto him with 3 innings left.
