  1. Man, Lou is aggravating. Stop with the steals and hit and runs and bunts.
  2. I don't think "catching fire" in the second half is too much of a worry considering he's been hitting quite well again for at least a month now.
  3. Wow, I thought that was it. Nicely done, Kosuke.
  4. Trade him while he's looking good.
  5. You don't like Chris Robinson hitting about .380 at Iowa? I do, but I'm skeptical that he's going to keep that up, given that his BABIP is insanely high and that he rarely walks. I've got him neck and neck with Clevenger as the top catching prospect in the system, but I don't think he's ready. I don't believe he can maintain that .384 .400 .528 line either. Though right now he's probably better defensively than fatsoto. At this point I still have faith in Geo, but it's slipping. I am starting to get more the feeling that this year will be a disaster for him, and that he will see the light and right the ship in the offseason (figure out the issues, lose some weight, etc) and come back better than ever next year. Not a very hopeful scenario, but it is what it is at this point. I'd prefer if he'd just lose the weight ASAP since there's 4 freakin' months and over 100 games left in the season. There's no reason for him or anyone else to figure that out after the season.
  6. Why? It might actually get us an ok live arm from A ball that way. And it's not Rich's fault that there was no spot here. Yeah, Cubs fans should be rooting for him to do well since it'll improve the return we get for him. I've seen people talk about getting "bothing at all," and that's not the case.
  7. Nicely done, Rich!
  8. They haven't been playing very well recently.
  9. One of Miles or Blanco needs to stay. Having only 3 middle infielders isn't the best move when you're counting on some of those guys to be able to back up 3rd, too. If it's a choice of Miles or Blanco than it should definitely be Blanco. Neither can hit but at least Blanco can play SS so that Theriot doesn't turn to dust the 2nd half of the season. Agreed. If they could somehow shed Miles and his contract, I would be very happy.
  10. I refuse to vote just for this reason. It would be comparable to creating a poll asking who the best baseball player of all time is, and leaving Babe Ruth off the list. For those of you that are not familiar with In n Out, that's all they do. When you get there, there is no need to stare at the menu for 15 minutes wondering what to order. They make a hamburger or a cheeseburger. That's it. The waiting lines to get through the drive through are always 10+ cars deep, whereas many other places you can zip right through with no wait. If you want a chicken sandwich, go somewhere else. You won't get one at In n Out. In n Out, the Babe Ruth of burgers. Same at 5 Guys.

  12. Guys, I think you're really overlooking all the little things this guy brings to the team. He's a gamer, and he never says die. When the bright lights shine on him in October (and they will), he's going to be leading the charge.
  13. The last week: .333 .529 .333 .863 That slugging is hideous, but all in all that's not even remotely close to being someone who needs to be benched or sent down.
  14. This guys is amazing. I really think between his dazzling defense and how he tries hard at every bat with off the charts grit is really going to motivate this team to put it together. He's not like those gloryhounds like Fox who only care about padding stats and don't care if the team wins or loses. UP WITH BLANCO. DOWN WITH FOX.
  15. The closest Fox will ever be to being Braun is when he misses an easy grounder at 3rd and the shot to his nads makes his eyes bug out.
  16. Fred, what is the Cubs' record when that is the only nude pic of Steve Stone posted?
  17. This bad boy hasn't let us down yet: http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee6/ccwolfe75/SteveStone04.jpg
  18. Why "yikes?" Soriano is just being Soriano. Bradley and Lee are that low because of how slowly they started. The only "yikes" here is using only BA like that/ I agree about Lee and Bradley, but as over rated a stat as BA is, even slumping Soriano shouldnt plumet from the .300s to sub .250 in the time it took him. With his knee, he could use tomorrow off with the off day Monday. Yes and no. Soriano isn't a .300's hitter, so you knew that was going to drop anyway. He's clearly slumping, but he usually goes through roughly .260-.290 peaks and valleys.
  19. We cant possibly know that unless Fox get the same kind of playing time as Braun did in 2007, and its pretty clear at this point that thats not going to happen, so we'll never really know. The Cubs aren't going into this Fox thing cold. He's been in the organization trying to play third base (among other positions) for 6 years. They should know at this point whether or not he can play the position. I was refering more to the hitting part. You honestly think there's a good chance that Fox is as good a hitter as Ryan Braun?

  21. Dempster needs all the help he can get: http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee6/ccwolfe75/SteveStone04.jpg
  22. Can we please at least go back to including pitching info in addition to the pithy comments? Plus naked Steve Stone. It can ONLY be the pool shot. When another was added, they lost. ONLY GLISTENING STEVE STONE FRESH FROM THE POOL.
  23. gregg has gotten boned over on a bunch of those this year, frankly. one of the balls to ethier looked good too. I feel like the zone for Gregg has been really tight this year as well. His entire gameplan is to throw pitches at the knees or higher on the outside corner, and the umps are not really giving him much either way. That combined with the fact that he doesn't have a great "out" pitch is why he has so many walks. His control isn't terrible (it's a little below average)..but hitters have been fouling off the strikes, taking the close pitches for balls and then taking walks. I agree that Gregg hasn't gotten the shaft quite a few times this season when it comes to the umps calling strike 3, though he doesn't do himself any favors by working the count full so often.
  24. Why are you even here? It's really unfair for so many of you to claim to hate/not care about this team and then not follow through.
