  1. I'm more worried about our first baseman who can't hit home runs. How many does he have? 6? As long as he's putting up a +.900 OPS, I think I'll be OK with Lee not hitting for power. What is his BABIP vs. expected BABIP? actual: 427. "expected" (though not thought out very hard): 340-ish. That is a very high BABIP. Why do you say .340ish, what are you basing that on? just line drive percentage. there are other factors though. the very very rough way of determining expected BABIP is adding 12% to LD%. Generally it's not very reliable. What you need to know is that his BABIP/average is bound to drop A LOT unless he starts hitting home runs.
  2. when i'm playing video games i usually berate myself, especially with sports games. like the above poster, i also talk to myself when i play golf.

  4. No, I don't think it has...that is interesting.... i really doubt they're going to add another position player. if they bring someone up to play a position, they obviously aren't sending own a pitcher to do so, so tt just further log jams the position player situation if they want to bring up another pitcher after they make whatever deal they want to make. He'll be back up at some point, but I seriously doubt it will be today.
  5. i think he likes screwing with the media and the fans.
  6. cotts reminds me of cliff bartosh, in that he's totally useless.
  7. why would we trade jacque jones to a contending AL East team to face Colon?
  8. Drop Ensberg, add Magglio Ordonez
  9. Trade him so Hill, Lilly and Marquis are your 1-2-3 for the next couple of years. Good choice. they clearly will get nothing back in a trade and will never sign a pitcher again.
  10. What in the past makes you think he's going to get any worse or back to bad? his terrible control. his huge workload. his first 2 months of this season.
  11. i love it when four starts influence personnel decisions. that's how you end up with guys like jeff weaver! i like zambrano, but lets not jump the gun yet.
  12. haha, barrett is a funny guy. http://espn-i.starwave.com/media/apphoto/b468459a-2f3f-480f-9f44-c993cc32b852.jpg
  13. there's nothing to take notice of or adjust to. he does not have the talent to be a starter in the major leagues. he was riding a massive hot streak at the beginning of the year, nothing more, nothing less.
  14. if anyone with insider wants to provide us with some key quotes that would be awfully kind it's just stuff pulled from the articles in the chicago sun-times. nothing groundbreaking.
  15. ERA+ 2004 84 2005 110 2006 102 2007 80 Way to let 1 good year weigh your analysis. Do you work for Jim Hendry? http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/stats/players/index.php?playerId=1636&firstName=Cliff&lastName=Lee so what year are you basing your analysis on? he's had two above average years and 1 1/3 below average years. you're letting his most recent 1/3 of a season sway you.
  16. there are a few of us in there chat/flashchat.php
  17. 1. Floyd not in lineup 2. Lee was scheduled to SH today Oops, meant Pagan over Floyd. As for the second thing, I know that he was scheduled to DH, the question is why? i think lou just wants to rest him without losing his bat.
  18. that's it? i was thinking we could get teixeira and kinsler too.
  19. 25 BB and 6 WP in 52 IP is not good. 5.88 ERA even less so. He has talent and will make the big leagues one day, but he has absolutely been rocked the last 4 starts (22 ER in 20 IP). Either he makes a big adjustment soon or he should go back to AAA to get some confidence back. As for Wandy Rodriguez....do you really think his ERA is going to stay down at 4.19 with the stuff he has? Its just a matter of time and pressure til his numbers revert to form. I am sure Sean Estes had a few good months somewhere once upon a time too. His numbers actually indicate that his performance isn't very fluky right now. his K:BB is nearly 4:1. He's striking tons of guys out. He doesn't have a fluky-low babip. nothing about the way he's performed so far screams fluke. His K-rate will probably drop a little bit, but at worst he'll be an average 3rd starter given how he's performed so far.
  20. i'm gonna have to go with alex sanchez. and there should be more loogys. also, wandy rodriguez and his 4.19 ERA this year is just terrible.
  21. sammy and lee talking about the fight. good stuff.
  22. watching something cubs like is usually exciting as long as the cubs aren't the ones doing it.
  23. the slam off of izzy.
