  1. I couldnt agree with you more. Im not gonna be stupid enough to put all my hopes and dreams into this team, and I certainly do not expect them to do anything, but I sure as hell am gonna cheer for them until and hold out that little hope until the math says I cant. Am I stupid for that? Probably, but I just cant give up hope, me being a Cubs fan wont let me.
  2. man of course everyone was safe, no need for things to be easy in the ninth inning.
  3. YES according the ESPN our record is 63-55.
  4. I hope its only for a short period of time, but damn it feels good to feel confident with a reliever in the 8th inning.
  5. Good job here tonight, 99 pitches what do you say, send him out for one more?
  6. Nicely done there Barrett, now a big hit by Z.
  7. He's not even in the top 40. Neifi is first on the team and 21st in the league with 13. Actually, since I'm sure these stats are updated daily, Aramis just grounded into his 13th and tied Neifi. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting?split=0&league=mlb&season=2005&seasonType=2&sort=GIDPs&type=exp&ageMin=17&ageMax=51&state=0&college=0&country=0&hand=a&pos=all Wow, I guess it's just the insane amount of double plays he's hit into this series. Im not surprised, however, that Neifi is now I guess tied for the lead.
  8. Anyone know the exact number of double plays Ram has hit into and where he is with regards to the league leaders?
  9. The franchise we know as The Chicago Cubs is currently in it's 130th season of competition in the National League. To casually throw around phrases like "unprecedented to the ..... franchise" suggests that you have done little or no research on this team. You may want to start with 1935. Start with 1935? For a little more relevant argument, how about going back 20 years and pull out the years when the monster last month carried the Cubs into the playoffs....... In 1984 the CUBS went 16-11 (0.592) in September to finish 96-65 (0.596). While that's good, I'd hardly call it a monster last month. Yea, the 2003 team closed it out better than that... 19-8 in September, and it could easily have been 20-7 or 21-6 (Alou's foul ball in the game we lost to the Cards and a couple of games we easily could have won against the Expos come to mind)... Whatever, either way they got it done and got in. Well fine, I apologize, an unprecedented run that I personally have not seen in my lifetime (albeit a very short lifetime of only 20 years).
  10. agreed. they absolutely needed to take this game and the pitching has been absolutely embarrassing. season is over, no way theyre gonna take both games against pettite and oswalt. good job ya idiots.
  11. Well, it WAS Jason Lane. Didnt Jason Lane have a grand slam against Prior earlier in the year? My point was that Jason Lane has a tendency to strike out. He doens't have good zone judgement. Yeah, I was just asking, was it Lane or was it Lamb, I always get those two confused.
  12. Please no double play, please no double play
  13. Well, it WAS Jason Lane. Didnt Jason Lane have a grand slam against Prior earlier in the year?
  14. please let this be glendons last inning, he just doesnt have it tonight.
  15. god bless america that scared the crap out of me.
  16. this is an extremely frustrating pitching performance tonight, especially with some of the bogus hits the astros have been getting.
