  1. Powell's record has stood almost as long as Beamon's. Pretty amazing.
  2. Heard on the radio that Price punched Mark Barron in a team meeting last week.
  3. Penn State will be in a position to hire some hot shot, glory hunting assistant/top non-BCS head coach to resurrect the brand. It'll be a good job. There's a lot of stink on it but you know the donors will circle the wagons and serious money will be on the table. Plus anyone who takes the job will have a really long leash to restock the cupboard. They'll be terrible for years but they can come back from this.
  4. Unless we're bribing Stern into fixing the lottery for us I don't really see this as a concerted effort to miss the playoffs. We'll be mediocre but not top of the lottery bad.
  5. Scott meltdown in progress
  6. Deng is having a nice game against Team USA. Also, Robert Archibald apparently plays for Great Britain.
  7. What's the issue? Nash divorced his wife the day after their baby was born. It was black.........Richardson was traded within days. hah, I hadn't heard that. terrific.
  8. apparently the football know it all has rebranded himself
  9. I think you're conflating the media scrutiny, twitter-centric, social media, ubiquitious cell phone camera era of today with Jordan's time.
  10. http://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/strong-draft-weak-dollar-how-the-chicago-bulls-draft-picks-influence-the-economy#.T_7z66XKsec.twitter Stupid literature nerds think Krause drafted Jordan and is still GM of the Bulls
  11. The Cubs threatening to win the World Series is the only angle that can capture national attention on the scale of the 98 Home Run chase or the Red Sox in 03 and 04. Consider that the Red Sox are just another big market club with occasional flareups of drama, there are (seemingly) no more roid monsters threatening to make a run at the single season home run record, and ARod's chase for the all time HR record will be a relative yawner now that he's a confirmed steroid cheat--if he can still even make a real run at it. Jeter going after the all time hits record maybe? Anything else out there?
  12. This is hilarious especially the part about the draft 2003: 1 (7) Kirk Hinrich 2004: 1 (3) Ben Gordon 2004: 1 (9) Traded essentially cash for the rights to Luol Deng 2004: 2 (8) Chris Duhon 2006: 1 (2) Tyrus Thomas (essentially) 2006: 1 (16) Thabo Sefolosha (essentially) 2007: 1 (9) Joakim Noah 2007: 2 (21) JamesOn Curry 2008: 1 (1) Derrick Rose 2008: 2 (?) Omer Asik 2009: 1 (16) James Johnson 2009: 1 (26) Taj Gibson 2011: 1 (21) Nikola Mirotic 2011: 1 (30) Jimmy Butler 2012: 1 (29) Marquis Teague I mean jeez, relative to pick in the draft, how can anyone look at that drafting history and say Pax has done a poor job drafting? Being able to get a border line All-Star in Deng for nothing. Finding a servicable backup PG in Duhon in the middle of the 2nd round. Getting a top 5 NBA Center in Noah at 9. Getting an excellent defensive guard who starts for the current WC champs at 16. Having the foresight to draft Asik in the late 2nd round and waiting for him to develop and come over to become one of the best defensive big men in the NBA? Drafting a 6th man of the year candidate in Taj Gibson 26th. Turning a situation where they didn't have room on the roster for a second 1st round pick into one of the Bulls best assets currently in Mirotic. Yes he missed big time on Tyrus, James Johnson is ok but disappointing and JamesOn Curry was nothing (but was a late 2nd round pick). Other than that, they have drafted nothing but solid players since 2003. You are looking at 1 superstar, 3 minor stars (Noah, Deng, Gordon), 3 more solid starters (Hinrich, Gibson, Thabo), and 4 solid rotation players on winning teams. I'm not putting Mirotic, Butler and Teague on this list but Butler already looks like he's earned enough trust to replace Brewer in the rotation, Mirotic looks like a potential star in the making or at least a solid starter, and most people gave the Bulls high marks for Teague. So yeah once again, you make a statement that is so far from the truth, you look completely silly. Can we somehow ban virus from the Bulls and Bears threads? Yet again, I see a lot of 'solid' mediocre players. He's done very little in terms of first round picks and you're omitting the blunder of trading Aldridge for TT among others. In almost 10 years hes drafted 1 superstar with the first pick of the draft and drafted a 1 time borderline all star in Deng who is a nice complementary piece, third option. His free agent gets (and lack of) are below average and I'm not sure he's learned to utilize the 'trade' option in the league. The Bulls also bungled the Skiles situation which leaves me curious to see what they do with Thibs. Drafting a true, game changing superstar is more about being fortunate enough to be terrible in the right draft year (or lucking into the #1 pick in said year) than it is about being a good drafter.
  13. haw haw djok
  14. Well according to reports that came out this morning, which I put next to zero stock into, the Lakers intend to keep the Kobe/Nash/Gasol/Bynum core together.
  15. SSR has his panties in a wad because I had the temerity to suggest that the Bulls should kick the tires on Nash
  16. http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2012/07/02/nets-very-close-to-acquiring-joe-johnson/
  17. So according to twitter chatter Joe Johnson is getting traded to the Nets which should effectively scuttle any chances they have of trading for Dwight
  18. okc is gonna take jones [expletive]
  19. lol @ rece davis telling the fat pasty heat, fan to put a shirt on underneath his jersey
  20. He's 18. I wouldn't close the book on him being able to develop that
  21. I would't want to be a black guy in England right now
  22. Pretty feeble by England here in extra time
  23. Nice defense OKC good lord [expletive] guard somebody
  24. If you had the money to start you could easily make lots of money each season. Don't bet the line but rather just the who will win. If you bet 50 bucks each and every game against the Nets you will have won 59 times and only lost 7. Say you only get 50% return on wins that makes the profit equation (59x$25) - (7x$50). That would be $1,125 profit this season. Obviously the Nets are having one of the worst seasons ever but you could each year wait a month to see who are the worst 2-4 teams and then do this. You would make 3-4 grand a year doing this but you would need the starting capital. Oh and you could do this for each sport, although I wouldn't do it with football (too unpredictable and too few games). That post was amazing.
