  1. horsefeathers. I hope that's not true. At any rate, the circus is coming to town now.
  2. He needs to stop manly poking every chick he sees.
  3. Not sure now that he's possibly turning a corner, but they still need 3B production and it seems like Candelario should interest them. When I originally brought him up I was thinking a Candy+Clifton based package. If Happ were necessary, then I agree with you. The thing is, I think Theo is trying to make Happ, Eloy, and Cease untouchable. I just don't see him going for Archer or another TORP like Quintana. I think he'll be looking for an ascending guy who is kind of under the radar. Guys whose shine has dimmed slightly but still show the talent. So those are the guys I'm looking at. The Braves need more than just 3B though. There's plenty of teams that can and would offer a better headliner than that. And the Braves would take it, instead of just filling a hole with a decent guy.(and I like Candelario honestly). Pitchers with that much team control and with flashes of upside.....They're going to bring back a much better headliner than Candelario unfortunately. And that's if they are looking to trade the guy, which I doubt the Braves are trying to do, with Folty. I'd love it, if that could get him. I just don't think it can.
  4. I like Folty. I think there's upside there. Its not like these guys follow a playbook and are what they are, by a certain age. But, I've asked before.....What reason do they have to deal him, unless they get something they really covet? He's probably going to cost us Happ+. I'd rather go get someone a bit more established for a chip of that value.
  5. Hudson was very hittable tonight. 5 9 3 2 2 5.....6/2 GO/FO.
  6. Yeah, you're getting passed over by anyone who is established. They'd laugh at this horsefeathers roster. I don't really care honestly, its extremely unlikely to be any worse. And it sucks because with a veteran led roster, any green coach is going to be walked all over similar to Fred. It would have to be a long time assistant that has a lot of respect around the league. Semirelated note: Didn't Boylan and Jimmy already get into it last year during a game? I don't remember that, but that means nothing. Could have happened. Good point on the new guy getting walked all over. Which means we'd probably get some shitty retread. Of course, that'd be apropos with this current horsefeathers.
  7. Damn, I thought they'd been rained out a bunch. But, they've been Ed Rooneyied already.
  8. maybe they give Boylan a chance to be a head coach. Or do the recent NBA trend of hiring recently retired PGs and hire Hinrich (kidding of course) I don't think any top coaching candidate is going to join this pile of endless mediocrity Yeah, you're getting passed over by anyone who is established. They'd laugh at this shitbag roster. I don't really care honestly, its extremely unlikely to be any worse.
  9. Wow. Levine is fairly plugged in, says we want pitching at BOTH 27 and 30. Names Lange, Romero, Sauer, and Rogers as guys of interest.
  10. You serious, Clark?
  11. Tseng goes 5.2 7 2 2 4 8. Got knocked around in the 6th, was damn solid up until then.
  12. Not much going in the DSL today. A 17 year old lefty who got a 300k bonus last year got shelled in his first start.... 2 5 4 3 2 0 line. (Jonathan Bruzual) In the "its too early to care, but I'm hoping anyway" file.....Carlos Pacheco hit his 2nd HR in 4 games. CF that got a 100k bonus last year.....HR's are not exactly common down there, so any power display is worth noting.
  13. UK, what happened with Schwarz, that his stock fell THIS much?
  14. It would be interesting to see how they would go at 30, if all 3 of Schmidt/Carlson/Romero were there. I tend to think they wouldn't touch Romero, due to the off-the-field stuff, but I can't say that I would be disappointed if they took the gamble. Oh, if they actually took him, I'd quickly think he's just misunderstood.
  15. I think I'd take risks, if the board shook out that way.....Carlson and Schmidt. And hope for Gonzalez, Rooker, Fairchild, or Miller in the 2nd. That said, I'd expect Allen(and be pretty happy) at 27. But, I could definitely see him paired with one of Schmidt or Carlson.
  16. Doesn't sound like the type of draft you want to rely on a late overslot signing since there won't be many of those candidates and you could be easily poached. Hmm, if anything, it hints you should over slot guys at 27 and 30. Not sure how the process works, what's legal and not....But, finding a top 15 guy and telling him to raise his asking price to where he falls to you seems like a decent idea....That's if you want to try the one impact talent route. But yeah, waiting on guys to drop to the middle rounds may not even be feasible.

  18. Craig, I agree with basically everything you said. Until the Schwarber part, where in no way, shape, or form, do I think this is anything other than a slump. Plus, he's already helped us win a World Series. As far as I'm concerned, its a hell of a pick no matter what he does going forward. But, I truly do think he's going to be just fine anyway.
  19. Kellogg was excellent. 6 2 0 0 1 2. Paulino was as bad as Kellogg was good. .2 4 4 4 2 0. I think we can close the door on Paulino as a starter.
  20. But, they have that stuff settled prior to them being picked. It doesn't have to be 4, 5, and 6th rounds.....There's tons of configurations. And there's ALWAYS guys that drop due to monetary reasons. At any rate, if the FO decides to go this route, it'll be because they've got lots of options they know are available later and aren't enamored with what's on the board at 27 and/or 30, to begin with. Obviously, I trust the FO and WHATEVER their decisions are, when it comes to the draft. But, in a weak draft, I'd much rather spread my money around, than put it into one or two. I get the other side. But, I'm hoping for some under slotting.
  21. Not a lot going on in the DSL today. Carlos Paula, 17, 100k bonus, got the start for DSL1. He went 4 4 3 1 3 3. Didier Vargas, 18, 60k bonus, put up 5 1 0 0 1 3. Ferrol Heredia, also 17, 50k bonus, goes 2 0 0 0 1 2. He's a lefty that supposedly is hitting 90+ and has a decent curve. Nunez went 3-4.
  22. Those seem to be arguments that prep pitchers are bad-risk/bad-value picks for $2M. In which case, not sure I see great wisdom in going cheap and compromising quality in the first, in order to make a bad-risk/bad-value expenditure in the 2nd. But, are you doing that? We got Schwarber way under slot and got to spread his money into Sands, Steele, and Cease, on top of that....You don't do it, unless you truly like Rucker, Gonzalez, or whoever.....But, it also doesn't mean you're going light up front for ONE guy. Spreading that savings out is likely a much higher percentage play, especially in a weak draft.
