  1. Wtf are you doing Peanut?
  2. Someone was reading the Sun-Times on the train this morning. The back cover? "WHY NOT OZZIE?"
  3. I'm starting to get the sense that Buck completely loathes McCarver. He's pretty much ignoring all of his stories.
  4. Good God Ellsbury covers a lot of ground.
  5. So are you trying to make a joke about the missing A in BBIP, which I assume is BABIP, which does include the word average? Given that I had never seen the stat BBIP Distance before, I had no reason to assume anything, and I'm not quite sure what "Batting Average of Balls in Play Distance" would mean. I assumed the stat was "Batted Ball in Play Distance" and was trying to determine whether the 273 was mean distance of a batted balls in play or median distance of batted balls in play.
  6. I know which joke you're making, but it doesn't say "average" anywhere and I've never heard of the stat before.
  7. Is this mean or median?
  8. Nope, it was Bixby. Bottom of the page here. But he took it down. ETA: that thread has a lot of background info on this clown.
  9. I hope it wasn't a dream.
  10. Northern Indiana only producers studs! http://bleacherreport.com/articles/415803-the-20-biggest-illegitimate-fathers-in-sports/page/15 Found this from 2010. I had never heard about Marshall Faulk's brood. That list is pretty outdated.
  11. Wow, I remember liking Nic Jackson a lot, but didn't realize he was recognized as a top 100 guy. Of all the guys I've seen in person, Nic Jackson *looked* like a ball player. David Kelton. If I saw him walking down the street, I'd think "hey, that dude's a baseball player"
  12. Let's also not forget the instance where a certain NSBB (honestly can't remember who it was) member found his phone number, called him, recorded the call, and blasted "Go Cubs Go" on the other line immediately after the Cubs had beaten the Cardinals.
  13. Elias is basically the typical Cardinal fan.
  14. For when Javy is called up.
  15. What a psychopath. At least we have this helpful transcript. ETA: apparently this is the last video of him left on the internet, but he's stll on Facebook.
  16. WTF is that? Aaron Miles fastball? Yeah, there's so much wrong with it. Starting off... A blog based around your love for Aaron [expletive] Miles? What happened to good ole Elias?
  17. Welcome to my world.
  18. Better not take my seats bro Haha what section are you in? I'm in 433 now -- considering moving if I can get the Combo... 102/104... will upgrade to whatever i can if there is something available. one thing i really liked about my seats were their proximity to the LF gate and the fact that a bathroom and a concession stand were right down the stairs on either side. Yeah those are great. I have a similar situation with mine. Just heard back from my rep -- they're only offering Combo in the Bleachers, unless you've had them there already. Lame.

  20. I'm 12/5 at 9am. Last year they wouldn't let me switch from Daily to Combo -- here's hoping that they allow it this year.
  21. There's a chasm between "just a little input" and "forcing your GM to send a top prospect and several million dollars of a slashed payroll to get a specific manager that most of the bleacher crowd doesn't know by name". Even more so when half the reason that GM left his old job was due to similar power struggles getting in the way of his job. Yeah - I would say a great majority of average Cubs fans couldn't even tell you who the Rays manager was and wouldn't be much more impressed by his hire than any from the Acta, Hinch, Renteria grab bag. Girardi was probably the only one they could hire and possibly get a big reaction due to his being a popular former Cubs player and originally being from the area. I haven't looked into the metrics so it might just be a small sample size from the games I have watched but when I take my kid to the games Maddon seems to sacrifice a lot for my liking and doesn't seem to an overly sabermetric guy. He is not "old school" when it comes to player discipline and general attitude but does not strike me as overly progressive regarding strategy. He did spend a lot of years with Scioscia so maybe he has a hard time letting go of some of those philosophies. I get the feeling he really doesn't want to leave Tampa. I think his laid back attitude fits well in a low pressure market like Tampa and he wouldn't really like going to New York, Chicago, etc where he is under more pressure. Also, the Rays management pretty much gives him freedom to do whatever he wants and I think he likes the arrangement quite a bit. What does that even mean? The majority of Cubs fans know who Joe Maddon is.
