  1. That's because Adam Dunn IS hot.
  2. How would you feel if you were DLee and your teammate was benched in order to give you a title? Not sure how DLee would feel, but I know I would feel like I didn't really earn it.
  3. How can this be explained? How old was he when he came to St Louis? And did he move up in the order? Putting him in front of McGwire is similar to hitting in front of Bonds. He's going to see more pitches to hit. As for his improved durability, any ideas?
  4. Yeah, I agree. Hitting a guy in or near the head is just awful and should not be tolerated. 7 guys ejected... if enough get thrown out and they can't field all the positions, what happens? Do they forfeit the game?
  5. How many players were ejected from that game? 7? 8? I miss the Farns. I think he was the longest-tenured player we had that had come up through our system. ah, the Paul Wilson takeout. Good Times.
  6. I don't know but whatever it is is more than just luck. Good scouting? Jocketty seems to have some kind of gift lately for finding guys who will thrive under our system. They are average elsewhere, but bring them to STL and the blow up. They obviously saw something in Carpenter, though, that's not just a lucky break. They signed him when he was already injured after Toronto released him and let him get healthy. He was great last year, then had the nerve problem in the elbow that cut his season short. Right now he's practically unhittable. It is aggravating to watch this, as a Cub fan. How did they know Carp wouldn't get hurt worse? And what did the scouts see in Tony Womack? That seemed kind of like a desperation move to fill a hole in the middle infield. I guess we really can't complain too much though. Guys like Randall Simon did well for themselves with the Cubs, so we do get our share. I guess I'm forgetting Glendon Rusch too.
  7. This is must have collectable for the true NSBB poster. What would you do with your Jim Edmonds Bobblehead? I think you should make this into a new thread.
  8. Sunday is Jim Edmonds Bobblehead Day.
  9. What a great idea! Thanks for starting this. What is the infield fly rule?
  10. "I'm only paranoid because they want me dead" - Jerry Fletcher
  11. I need to stop thinking conspiracy.
  12. Actually, in that AB Palmeiro walked. It was earlier they showed his prior AB where he grounded out. Did anyone else think it was just a little too convenient that the first Rangers batter they cut to, Soriano, got a hit? And at the very next moment, Palmeiro happened to be up? It was almost like ESPN knew in advance, as if, even though they called it "Live Bonus Coverage" there may have been a tape delay of a up to a minute or two for one of those segments?
  13. This game cannot start soon enough. I am in Real Baseball withdrawal and I can only imagine if they didn't have the rainout and we had to wait until Friday. Stupid Cubs. Win!!!
  14. I don't know much about minor league pitching -- Will Corey see enough quality breaking pitches in AAA for him to improve? How much better/faster is major league pitching than AAA/Mesa?
  15. Well, if MLB is going to be technical, and say that Curacao = the Netherlands, then, umm, shouldn't they also consider Puerto Rico = USA? To add more fat to the Curacao fire, they won the Little League World Series last year. I don't remember Curacao passing that honor on to the Netherlands...
  16. I would be more than happy to take the Saturday tickets off your hands. I will PM you.
