  1. Or his 2001 season where he pitched nearly 200 innings with a 12-6 record that should have been more like 16-4 with any run support. Or his 2002 season where he pitched over 200 innings and should have been a 15 game winner with any run support. Or his 2003 season where he pitched over 200 innings and should have been a 15 game winner with any run support. Or the 2003 NLDS where he owned Atlanta. As for the 2003 NLCS, Dusty riding him the whole year (as he did prior) with two of the highest pc/game may have had an effect on the burnout - but he certainly didn't pitch his best there i'll give you that. OR the fact that he has some of the filthiest stuff in the majors. But I guess we can go on saying he worthless other than 20 K's in 1998. It makes more sense. Here's the problem with that. 2001 was 4 years ago, 2002 was 3 years ago and 2003 was 2 years ago. How about 2004 and 2005? Wait, I remember.....he was injured. But fear not, Kerry is on pace to be ready to go this year. Ever heard that one before? The 2003 playoffs are long gone........
  2. He said that the Wrigleys' sent him a letter saying that they would not sell to a group of investors "like the White Sox did for Reinsdorf". He said to take that for whatever it means. He also said the group would be more than willing to negotiate in regards to the broadcast rights. I wish everyone on here could have heard this interview. The guy is very passionate about the Cubs and seemed like he really wants to bring a title to the North Side.
  3. It was more of an opportunity for Jim Annixter to be a self promoter and for Murphy and he to take cheap shots at the Tribune Co. I agree with the Murph part, but I liked what I heard from Annixter. He said that losing should not be an option and the World Series would be the only measure for success. As much as people hate to hear this, he brought up Steinbrenner's name. He said George has a ton of pride in the Yankees and if he doesn't win the title, the year was a failure. Also said the entire organization needs to be changed from the top down. He brought up the Braves as an example of who he would like the Cubs to be run like. He also said that if Corey was in a different organization, like the Braves, he would probably be an entirely different player. Annixter also said he has the group together (lifelong Cub fans) and the money ready if the deal ever comes up. He's a very passionate guy and wants to win.
  4. Horse, why the change in name? I can't listen to B and B anymore sinced they changed time slots. I thought it was time for a change.
  5. Amen. Ron is not a professional broadcaster. If he gets voted in, this whole process would lose a lot of credibility. Ron is the "loveable ex-Cub", not a HOF broadcaster.
  6. A November ranking of baseball teams.....? I don't put a lot of stock in a November ranking. Who cares.
  7. http://www.ajc.com/braves/content/sports/braves/1105/02braves.html The Chicago Cubs and New York Mets already told his agent they will be big players in the Furcal sweepstakes if the free-agent shortstop doesn't re-sign with the Braves during an exclusive 15-day negotiating period before Nov. 11. I think if the Mets have their heart set on Furcal, they will win a bidding war.
  8. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/cubs.asp Leading man: One of the top priorities for the Cubs this winter will be a leadoff man. If the Florida Marlins make center fielder Juan Pierre available, look for the Cubs to get involved. If the Cubs can land Pierre, they’d likely try to deal center fielder Corey Patterson, who suffered through a miserable year at the plate.
  9. I believe yesterday Stone said he talked to a "baseball executive" who said that it looks like Damon will not get the huge payday he's expecting. FWIW.
  10. I just started drooling. By the way, BgBird, welcome from a fellow recent addition to the board! Thanks MPrior. I've posted before, I just changed my screen name.
  11. I just hope he gets the starting job.
