  1. Holy hell, Jennings.
  2. He's been pretty accurate on the most recent drive, but there were issues with drop/no separation.
  3. May not have to use one at all if the Panthers attempt a pass.
  4. Offense might get another chance here with pretty good field position. Need to take advantage.
  5. I think any points before half but the Bears in good shape. Anything else has me a little bit worried.
  6. But NPB players acquired via the posting system don't normally count against the IFA cap? Would Otani have to be signed for a certain amount of days (or years) before he could negotiate a contract free of those restrictions? It would seem like the best approach to get the most money immediately out of an MLB team.
  7. Take a sip of some Earl-Jay tea.
  8. It's nice that the NFL got their weather machine working. Looks like good conditions.
  9. I saw that as soon as I tuned in. Harold Reynolds was like, 'hey! great joke!' and pointed at Pierzynski. Wish someone was there to ask him how it felt to represent his team at the ASG this year or something.
  10. This is a much better game than I was expecting. Sanchez has played really well.
  11. Devin McCourty, the suckiest
  12. Well, anyone doubt that the Patriots will score with 2 minutes to work with?
  13. Stephen Hill really sucks
  14. Those sucky Jets with a chance to tie or win now
  15. [expletive]. You're hired by the team to broadcast to their fans. The announcers SHOULD be homers. ESPN or Fox announcers should remain neutral. Kasper isn't neutral in the broadcasts. He clearly calls the game from the perspective of what the Cubs need to do to win and the changes in his tone definitely reflect a rooting interest in the team. What he does do objectively is analyze and inform the fans, which is more than a lot of broadcast teams do. It does no one good to spew off the type of homer analysis that Harrellson does because it does not accurately portray the game or the team to the fan.
  16. Except when he is behind the wheel drunk. Arrested this morning for a DUI while going 33 over the speed limit, allegedly.
  17. Booker's contract has been terminated. Do they pick him back up once Quigley is expendable?
  18. I just noticed that I'm in the championship round of my fantasy baseball league (10 teams) and I only have one player with a SLG% over .500, partially due to Bautista going down. Look around the league and there's 32 qualified hitters with a SLG% over .500, and 8 over .550. Numbers like that make me feel a lot better about the relatively disappointing power output from Rizzo.
  19. I see some people reference Soriano's 'rapid decline' now and again and I think it's pretty overblown. He had the terrible '09 season, but hasn't shown anything but a steady decline since 2010 while improving in a lot of the mental aspects of the game.
  20. I think you hit on a a very good point that replacing Knox with Jeffery and Marshall will cut down considerably on INTs. The WR's showed some good abilities to fight for the ball in tight coverage and that should bode well for the offense and team in general. Speaking of the WR's, Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett and Hester are a solid group, and Weems will also be on the team, but Rashied Davis looked pretty dreadful out there. If he isn't valued as a special teamer, then I think both he and Sanzenbacher will be cut. Could that open the door for someone like Joe Anderson, or will the roster space be taken by the tight ends that are in camp? Did anyone have any thoughts on Booker and Allen? They both looked pretty decent catching the ball out of the backfield, and I don't think either did anything to differentiate themselves from the other.
  21. Looks like the D had some problems with speed to the outside, but the pass defense looks pretty sound, even if its just a shell.
  22. Good coverage downfield by Rodriguez, too
  23. It looks to me that the Maholm type signings are the way to actually build up the overall talent level in an organization. With a big time FA, you give up financial flexibility in addition to draft picks and have a difficult to trade asset in the event you want to move the player. Mid-tier free agents don't cost you a draft pick, add to the talent of the organization and can be turned into solid prospects with a shrewd front office. Its really the only way to add something for nothing, and a team with a lot of payroll space like the Cubs should continuously be doing it. The big moves can be made if enough of the mid-level pickups and prospects start performing at the same time. In lieu of that, you will have to wait for waves of prospects to start hitting the majors which should begin by 2015. I think we can look forward to a better team next offseason, but only with some great fortune would it contend under this framework.
