  1. Not so original. That was the original plan 30+ years ago for the Royals and Chiefs stadiums in Kansas City. The Twins need a roof. My first MLB game I ever went to was a Twins/Yankees game in mid April at the old Metropolitan Stadium. It was 37 degrees and alternated between drizzle and snow flurries. I don't see what's dazzling about the Twins new place. It reminds me a lot of Petco. Busch III actually looks like it enhances "downtown" St. Louis. Downtown St. Louis sucks and anything to help it out is an improvement.[/i]
  2. That's friggin' weird. Wasn't one of the "Killer B's" that way? Great for night games and fair to poor on day games... You know the moment the playoff schedule comes out LaRussa will shift the pitching rotation so that Mulder has night starts.
  3. That's fine, but anyone switching to White Sox gear can stay over there.
  4. I appreciate the way Rolen handles himself when he hits a home run. He puts his head and runs around the bases at almost full speed. None of the BS that Sammy, Pujols or Bonds pull where they stand there and admire their work and then trot at slow speed. I don't think Rolen's a robot: he's just dialed in.
  5. I'm sitting here listening to XM not doing a lick of work because I'm staring at my radio going WTF are you talking about!
  6. as opposed to "low comedy" if J-Rod gets plunked??? I'm gonna say Eckstein. small, quick, yet highly hittable :D Is it possible to hit someone as small as Eckstein with a pitch? Kinda like trying to find Calista Flockhart when she's turned sideways.
  7. Santo says he's leaving the pitches up. If that's true then we're in trouble.
  8. They only had two starters yesterday. Taguchi batted third and hit a squeeze bunt in the first inning.
  9. I have DirecTV and only loose my signal in absolute end-of-the-world downpours. What service do you have? Do you have trees in the way? Your dish might need to be re-aimed. If off slightly your signal could be weak. If you have the smaller single or dual LNB DirecTV dish you might want to think about getting the larger triple LNB oval shaped dish. That way you'll be ready for HDTV too.
  10. This sucks, especially with all the smug Cards fans coming to town this weekend.
  11. At least we got through the top of the 8th without giving up any more runs.
  12. Cards just won with their AAA lineup: only two starters. They swept the Brewers while we can't win a game. Wednesday Card lineup. SS Eckstein, David LF Rodriguez, John RF Taguchi, So CF Edmonds, Jim 2B Luna, Hector 3B Nunez, Abraham 1B Seabol, Scott C Diaz, Einar P Suppan, Jeff
  13. What is it going to take to get rid of Dusty? If the Cubs loose today and all the games againts the Cards, will that be enough?
  14. What if it's D. Lee? He is still batting .070 above his usual average and is currently in a slump. What if they found out he was juicing and that started his current slide because he's all worried? That would be a kick in the teeth.
  15. I am really fearing that not only will Dusty be back next year, but Macias will still be here, Neifi will still be here, Burtnitz in right, and no real improvements anywhere... and a payroll of 75mil, showing the fans that the Tribune and the Cubs don't care about winning. I'll puke if that happens.
  16. Chicago Cubs - 16 games out of first place Chicago Cubs - 3 Games under .500 and falling (54-57) I also like how he calls these guys bums and mediocre minor leaguers. If youre so good why aren't you playing center field for the cubs? He has three total posts. Anyone think he'll get to four. I don't. He does have a point. Although pigs will fly if LaRussa can keep this up far into the playoffs.
  17. Eliminate the DH and expand the roster to 26. The St. Louis Cardinals would be a good NL team to contract.
  18. I hate the Cards but I can't respect the Astros with their stupid ballpark and absurd left field layout. Besides: the Astros have been red hot and are still almost 10 games back from the Cards. Even though the Cards went out west with their AAA lineup and went 4-2. Jerks. From stltoday.com: *sigh*
  19. Cards are all over the Padres 10-3 in the top of the 8th. Carpenter has calmed down after a rough start. Wildcard race continues to be tight: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/standings/wildcard.jsp
  20. Who was it that said (about Busch Stadium) after the 196something All Star Game "It sure hold the heat well."? The new Busch III looks nice. Especially with the open concourses where you'll be able to see through to the field. Hopefully the airflow will be better with the open design.
  21. Broadway Oyster Bar is my choice. Heading down to STL. Waiting on my buddy to pick me up. We're staying at the new Hilton on Broadway. Have tickets for Sat. and Sun. games. Heading tonight (Friday) to the new Irish bar on Washington Ave. across from the dance bar that serves sushi. (Forgot the name of both.) Anyway, the Irish place has tons of TVs including 4 or 5 very big widescreen plasma HDTVs. After that heading a couple doors down to Lucas Park Grill: nice crowd with a target-rich environment. They're still calling for 100 degree + heat. I recommend this plan at the game: alternate beer and water. Drinking a ton of beer and hurling afterward doesn't make you a man.
  22. Saturday and Sunday for me. Both times way back in the left field bleachers and in the shade. Yes: take it easy if it's going to hot and humid. Learned my lesson before in St. Louis.
