  1. Yup, that ball was well outside. He reached.across the plate.
  2. LOL, JHJ reaches on a pop single. Windy conditions in the outfield
  3. Neifi's not in a slump... he's just being the player that he is, which is below average. It's silly to keep starting Neifi regardless of his poor performance. Yes, well Dusty claimed today that Neifi is great shortstop who isn't a utility man, and is a starting shortstop, and he can't bench him for Cedeno. Then he said he didn't know what he'd do when Nomar came up. Great. I think there is even a stronger argument for Murton playing, but he's not a savvy vet like Holly who can't be benched. That's just Dusty sticking up for his guys. I heard that press conference and it sounded to me like someone just trying to stir up trouble... The truth is that if Nomar comes back at even 70 % he'll probably be starting which means Ronny will be sent down and Neifi will ride the pine. GAMES ON!
  4. The Cubs need to win tonight to keep pace with he Astros, and pick up a game on the Nationals, Phillies, Marlins, and possibly the Mets who are losing again to the Rockies.
  5. Cedeno was on the big league roster from April 21-May 17. I stand corrected, I do remember he was brought up as a backup. There was no reason to play him in late April or early May. We need to agree to disagree we're stuck with the guy like it or not.
  6. Neifi's not in a slump... he's just being the player that he is, which is below average. It's silly to keep starting Neifi regardless of his poor performance. I know he isn't. I was going somewhere else with thet argument before the Asrtos rudely interrupted with a win.  What I was going to say is, Dusty was compelled to ride him out for a while because he didnt know how long he would slump. You want to ride the hot hand... Who would have expected DLee to have the year he's had. Think about the RBIs he missed out on while hitting 6th earlier in the year. Anyway, I dont have the strength to continue this debate.
  7. We under appreciate Neifi. He's a career sub who has filled in admirably. Let's not have short memories, Neifi and DLee were carrying the offense when Aramis and Corey were automatic outs early in the season. Without going into the same debate again, I'll have to strongly disagree. Neifi did well in April, but he's regressed to his career numbers, which I don't want on the roster at all. Nonsense. Since May 1: .241/.261/.337/.598 Who's been worse? I dont get your point. There was little alternative. Instead of picking out Neifi's May stats I think its much more appropriate to point out others, on the team, that are being paid to hit for average and drive in runs. Aramis had a horrible start to the season and so did Barrett. Plus, Todd Walker's bat was also out of the lineup which compounded the problem. The bottom line is, Neifi Perez isn't paid to get the big hits. There is no reason to be angry with him. However, one could take issue with Dusty keeping him at the top of the lineup once he started to struggle. Paging Ronny Cedeno...?? Oh.. and you hit the nail on the head on that last point. I'm not mad at Neifi. He seems like a good guy, from what I've seen. My issue is with Dusty playing Neifi, and letting poor Ronny C, who might actually have a future in the major leagues, rot on the bench. The Cubs weren't going to bring up Cedeno in MJay. first off, every player goes into a slump. If a manager started sitting players.. OMG The Astros win on a walk off homer by Lamb. WTF????
  8. Sorry, but he's made several great plays for the Cubs this year. The most recent one being the screaming liner from Pujols. Yes, Neifi has saved quite a few games with his glove.
  9. Washington walked in a run. Floating strike zone. Braves announcers disrespecting the Nationals by calling the the 'Expos'
  10. Bases loaded in ATL with Andruw at the plate.

Without looking it up I will disagree. I saw a graphic during the ESPN game that said he went in a slump in early June. Again, he's a career .269 (?) hitter who provided months of .300+ hitting. Under the circumstances you have to be pleasantly surprised. The Cubs were expecting Nomar to hit over .300 for the greater part of the year.
  13. The start time is up to the home team until the lineup cards have been given to the umpire (crew chief). They literally have no boundaries other than good sense.

  15. It's possible. But also the Royals game is also in a Rain Delay, and they're doing the "Rain Delay" promo as well, so it could be possible that the Cubs and Royals really want to get those games in, if necessarly. I'm sure the Giants and Cubs would rather not play a double-header, given the fact that they'll have to fly to Milwaukee. Edited: It stopped raining in KC, and the game is almost underway, so hopefully the same in Chicago as well. I can't speak for the Royals but the Cubs do not usually continue with live or semi live coverage during rain delays. Something must be up. My suspicious mind is on overload. lol, I wonder if tomorrow's game is suppose to be on CSN? My TV Guide says Giants @ Cubs for Wednesday. Yes, they have a 1:20 game scheduled for tomorrow. Uh oh, Cordero is on the ropes in the bottom of the 9th in ATL. 2 on and no out. I spell a blown save! Edit: The game is tied with one out and a man on first. Actually, now there are 2 outs with a man caught stealing moments ago.
