I think it's fair to say that a lot of UM fans underestimated the loss of Edwards to that offense. This year Henne actually has to throw TO receivers, not just NEAR Edwards.

I was joking about the announcers and Vick. Last week, they hardly acknowledged that a football game was being played. They couldn't stop talking about him. It was pretty tiresome.

I could never understand how they lost 3 games last year, a few of their main players, and moved up to #4 preseason. However I can see it now if ND wins "ND can't beat a real team because everyone they played was overrated" The bottom line is that it is mainly all in their name. Iowa finished ahead of them in the final poll with only 2 losses, yet somehow drops in the initial ranking while UM goes up 10 spots. Makes a lot of sense. Especially when Iowa returned most of their offense and a very experienced back 7 on D.

I am pulling for the Big 10, but Michigan is starting to show how overrated they really are. #3 or #4? Come on. They haven't had any semblance of a decent defense in quite a few games now.

I am wondering when Michigan's OC is going to figure out that ND has blitzed on every third down so far.

That is just terrible. He has done this like three years in a row now. Will the D-rays really take a chance putting him in the ML lineup with those awful numbers? Lugo is having a good year...I am sure they won't be rushing him up any time soon.

No, because Hairston and the prospects would get claimed. Then why didn't the Cardinals' prospects get claimed last year when they did the Walker deal?

Relative to what moves were actually made this year, I can't see how you can give it a "yuck" label. It was clearly a sellers' market and Hendry did what he could to make this team better.

It's also rumored that the Cards were hard after him. That wouldn't have been too good had they acquired him. Granted, the Cubs have virtually no chance of catching the Cards, but that doesn't mean I want the Cards getting any better either.

Yeah, I am sure his .382 OBP can't help this offense AT ALL. Some people are just never happy. I believe he is a free agent after this year. Honestly, with Murton having very good speed, doesn't he have some ability to play center?

Right, so it should just be accepted and tolerated? Such constant exaggeration and "sky is falling" types of behavior with no accountability for such statements is clearly one of the unfortunate aspects of a message board.

Awful? A little loose with the hyperbole aren't we? 4.17 ERA in the PCL is far from "awful". True, but it's far from top notch too. Well, I agree. But the statement was made that he was "awful" and that clearly is an exagerration.

If that's all it takes to get Dunn(No matter the prospect involved) then I'm going to be quite upset. we could EASILY do better then that. We have so much more to offer then the Dodgers IMO. Then you don't know much about the Dodgers' system. Another example of some here overvaluing our own prospects. Seriously, aside from Pie, they probably have 4-5 prospects higher than anyone in our system. -

Making the team better IMO is something that can last for more than one year. Burnitz has this year and maybe next year to excell and IMO he's a Gietti (sp) waiting to happen. I think if the Cubs get a solid offer (very good 22-25 year old player) or in a package for a Manny Ramirez type hitter it would make them a better team now AND in the future. I can't imagine Theo Epstein doing a deal to get rid of ManRam and replacing him with Burnitz unless the Cubs threw in other stuff to make the Red Sox better this year, including Walker, possibly Williams, and Dempster. The Sox want to win now, and going from Ramirez to Burnitz is not the way to do that. I'm almost positive someone else suggested this, but what if the Reds get involved: Cubs get: Manny, David Weathers + $10M Sox get: Dunn and Mercker Reds get: Hanley Ramirez, Shoppach, Leicester, Hill and Mitre. I think that's reasonably fair I say that if the Cubs sent Gerut to Boston, and we got salary relief past this year, that would be a pretty good deal. Can we send Hollandsworth instead of Gerut? :D ??? Just last week you said Gerut wasn't any better than Hollandsworth.

Look at his splits, THAT is why the board would melt down. His slugging is nice, yes. But he doesnt do jack crap outside of texas. Yeah, he didn't do much in Yankee stadium either. /sarcasm
