  1. I think the idea was that Davis wouldn't have pitched around Aramis if 1st base weren't open. I agree with the not swinging at bad balls part, but Aramis probably would've seen better pitches without the double steal. If Pierre is going to be in a lineup, he'd be more valuable in the 7 or 8 spot, where "small ball" might actually help produce a run every now and then. Why MLB teams feel they need to put traditional leadoff types in front of power hitters is beyond me. Henry Blanco can score from first on a D-Lee homer just as easy as Pierre can.
  2. Or Pagan. Oh well a nosedive probably gets rid of Dusty. That's isolationist and defeatist. If you are satisfied with a nosedive, then you're clearly not a true Cubs fan.
  3. Brewers announcers said the same thing.
  4. Yep. His minor league numbers show that his OBP isn't closely tied to his batting average, and in some years he has walked more than he has struck out.
  5. Thanks, Serena. Some observers thought Prior wasn't fully healed up during his rehab starts because his velocity was down. It's worth watching.
  6. Brewers announcers, who clearly want to have Pierre's children, keep talking about how he is a "hard worker."
  7. Do you watch all 29 other teams? No.
  8. The Brewers announcers were wondering how Pagan didn't catch it. Of course, they also think Barrett is a great defensive catcher, so take that for what it's worth. But Pagan definitely should have caught it. He was there.
  9. Yeah, he should have given up 2 runs that inning. How? Walk, flyout, Walk, flyout, flyout. The inning should have been over wildness or not. Yep.
  10. I thought that was his one endearing quality -- that he never strikes out? His other endearing quality is that he is built like a sausage. Look for him in the 6th inning.
  11. At a ball that bounced to the catcher.
  12. Some women think Prior is the best-looking Cub.
  13. Anyone watching WGN? What's the radar gun reading? Brewers guys are saying Prior's around 88 mph.
  14. ?? Clark was barely safe at second because he couldn't believe no one caught the ball.
  15. he's not very fast. he's a base clogger. Brewers announcers now talking about Neifi Perez's veteran leadership.
  16. One Brewers announcer said, "No one in baseball does that better than Juan Pierre." Does what? Go the other way? 4-3? No.
  17. Brewers announcers say Pierre is taking the blame for Baker being on the hot seat.
  18. He seems to be favoring his groin.
