  1. Yeah that was great. I guess those 12.9 ypc weren't enough... He was such a stud. He only started 7 regular season college games and in that span put up 1,144 yards and 13 TD's with 7.8 ypc. The Best That Never Was is an incredibly appropriate title.
  2. Seen several people talking about it on Rivals, saw it on a twitter of a writer that covers the SEC, and also had a professor friend of mine at Auburn text me saying it was all over campus right now. So nothing official yet.
  3. Hearing that sources within Auburn's camp are saying that at a press conference this afternoon, Chizik will announce that Newton isn't going to play on Saturday. Vegas apparently figured out this was going to happen days ago because they suspended the line for the Aub-GA game.
  4. That was really good. Surprised I had never even heard of him. His high school films were beyond ridiculous. I heard Gerry DiNardo saying the other day that if recruiting was just between coaches and the athletes, the vast majority of corruption would be eliminated. This was another prime example. That "man of god" Rev. Fairley is such an ultimate piece of isht. What a snake in the grass. When Marcus called back home feeling sad that Coach Switzer was getting on his ass, a REAL father figure in his life would have told him to man up and take his lumps like everyone else.
  5. Just watched that 30 for 30 about Marcus Dupree. That is just unbelievably tragic. Amazing documentary.
  6. Again, why did it "most confuse" you? Some of you are acting like Adolfo won the award or something. Gonzalez is a very good outfielder with a very good arm. No doubt his bat helped him, but I just don't see why it is so curious or why it is causing confusion that he won. the defensive metrics do not support the idea that he was very good or even above-average in the OF this year, which is a more objective analysis than your statement of him being "pretty badass" How snarky of you. He looked very good to me, that's all I'm saying. Sorry if that's not as objective as FRAR or RF or whatever it is you are using, but it is what it is. It's unlikely that many voters for GG pay attention to metrics, so I don't see why it is confusing that a guy who (at least on the surface) played solid defense, made a bunch of flashy plays, and hit the [expletive] out of the ball this season gets a gold glove.

I'm glad to see Tulo finally getting his due after being totally robbed of it by Rollins in 07.
  8. Ummm, why? He's a badass out there.
  9. They are probably just outside the top 10. But they played in and won a ton of huge games in the Tuberville era. ESPN's rankings from a couple years ago put them 21st. 7th of current SEC teams Link to that list? I'd be interested to see that
  10. I definitely wouldn't put them there. The SEC Cadillac programs are pretty obviously LSU, Bama, and Florida
  11. Eh, most SEC schools (other than Vandy or Kentucky) are usually going to be somewhere in the top 25, and Auburn being ranked 4th isn't shocking or anything because they've had numerous top 10 classes before, but going from 20th to 4th is a pretty impressive and sudden spike.
  12. Dude you need to chill out. I'm sure you guys are getting it from all sides now, but I'm not piling on Auburn here. In fact, Auburn is the school that I dislike the least in our western division. I've never had anything against them. I'm pretty much indifferent to Auburn and always have been. I have no general animosity toward you guys, so that's not where I'm coming from. But it's pretty damn badass when your school can, coming off a mediocre year, get THE top rated player in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana (may as well throw in that y'all got the 4th rated player in Florida too). To recruit that well outside of your own state is pretty impressive. I know it's early in the recruiting process, but Auburn is back to 21st right now in the recruiting rankings.
  13. It may not be a coincidence that Auburn strangely went from having the 19th and 20th ranked recruiting classes in 08 and 09 to being 4th overall last year. Last year they managed to get the highest rated JUCO QB, the 2nd highest rated RB (Dyer), and the 3rd highest rated OL and top prospect overall from the state of MS (Shon Coleman). They also managed to get the highest rated prospect from the state of LA (Trovon Reed). They ended up getting 5 of the top 50 rated players and another that was rated 54th. All of this coming off a 7-5 season (3-5 SEC) where they barely beat Northwestern in their bowl game and with a mostly unknown head coach. Chizik could just be a hell of a recruiter, but I do remember alot of people rubbing their heads last year over how badass Auburn's recruiting got all of the sudden.
  14. Ted Simmons might be the only one I'd consider. No doubt Morgan will homer for Davey Concepcion, but he's only really famous because he played for the Big Red Machine. He never lead the league in a single category and that lifetime 88 OPS+ is just bad to the bone. He'd join other exemplary players with such a poor OPS+ as Rabbit Marranville and Joe Tinker.
  15. haha, Ole Miss is losing to University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
  16. Auburn isn't nearly as bulletproof as Bama is. There would have to be photographic evidence of Bama supplying recruits with hookers, cash, and cocaine for them to get more than a slap on the wrist.
  17. This is so delicious. If Miss St. isn't brought down along with Auburn in all of this, then Auburn is certainly going to unload the kitchen sink on Miss St. with any dirt they might have on them. Dan Mullen's house is about to be up for sale. He's about to run as fast as he can away from Starkville.
  18. HA! two missed game winning FG's in overtime in the Chiefs-Bills game. This is gonna be a tie.
  19. Auburn v. Oregon NC game please
  20. that's a damn good one
  21. The Onion said it best:
