  1. Well Dave, I certainly wish your prediction was right... this is painful.
  2. On the issue of realignment, here is my new idea. If the Marlins move to St. Antonio, how about setting up the leagues like this: AL West: OAK, LAA, SEA, TEX, *SA (Marlins) AL Central: CWS, MIN, CLE, KC, DET AL East: NYY, BOS, BAL, TOR, TB (until they get moved) NL West: *HOU, LA, SF, SD, ARI NL Central: MIL, CHC, STL, *COL, CIN NL East: NYM, PHI, PIT, WAS, ATL * the three changes would be the Marlins to the AL West, the Astros to the NL west and the Rockies to the NL Central. I figure the Astros would want to be in the West rather than the Central because... With 15 teams in each league, scheduling would have to change. Each team would play: -30 games against their Interleague "Division" (so the NL Central only plays the AL Central... a home and home against each team in the division in the other league) -60 games against non-divisional teams in your own league. Home and home v.s. everybody in the NL West and NL East -72 games against divisional rivals... that comes out to 18 games v.s. every team. This way the Astros, being in the West, would be able to play the Rangers and Marlins during their Interleague Series'. My only concern is, with 15 teams in each league, there would have to be an Interleague matchup during every series, is there a way to do this? What do you guys think?
  3. As a lifelong Packer season ticket holder, I can tell you with great confidence that Mike Sherman is completely [expletive].
  4. Ah, well that makes sense then.
  5. Prince started real rough in Nashville last year too. Tonight was the first night he actually looked comfortable at the plate. The single and RBI was clutch... he'll find his groove. FYI, the guy who sits next to me at MP says that he struck out only 17 times last season between AAA and the majors... he's already halfway there.... very tough start. It was cool to see the stadium give him a standing ovation in the eighth inning on Tuesday despite the fact he was 0-for-8 with 7 Ks to that point.
  6. UWM just doing what they do. Dropping majors in March. I LOVE IT!
  7. I think that Cirillo shot was the single best moment of my life... Thanks for rehashing that memory for me!
  8. Tell me you're kidding... what did the Brewers do during the offseason? They aged a year. With a team this young... expect the players to step up their games and their results... Milwaukee no longer has to depend on the works of their GM. The players are there. Criminally overrated? Please.
  9. Cubs fans... time to worry The Crew is stacked full of young talent that has nothing but upside. Rickie Weeks had a bad year and was an immense offensive threat last season. Carlos Lee will hit over .300 this year in "the keg." He had a hard time adjusting to the NL last year. Honestly, Milwaukee had no need to upgrade it's pitching staff, it was one of the most consistent last season. Sheets, Capuano, and Davis give you a strong start to the week. The Brewers have about 10 guys competing for those last two spots. Here's one thing you forgot about... the Brewers win under Yost. They play harder than anyone else in the league... can you EVER say that about a Dusty Baker club? Milwaukee will win between 85-95 games this year. Mark my words.
  10. as for the "Carry on Brewers" comment. Remember that Bud Selig was nothing but a nuisance to Milwaukee baseball in the 90s. Every single thing he did was horrible for the club and the fans. NOBODY wanted the new logos/uniforms in 1994 and that's why they changed them so many times throughout the decade. Bottom line is, Wisconsin baseball fans wanted their Brewers back... finally they've got them back. This is a Sunday jersey, but I guarantee that it will become the Brewers main home uniform by mid-summer.
  11. The Selig-driven Brewers pushed fans away from 1993-2004 by cutting payroll, jetising players, and embarrassing the strong fanbase by allowing such crap to take the field every summer. Mark Attanasio really has his stuff together. He's a smart business man that will let Melvin take care of all baseball operations. This is a VERY very young team. The possibilities are endless with Weeks, Hardy, Fielder, Hart, Cruz etc... the scary thing is that the Brewers still have one of the best farm systems in baseball. Pitching is on it's way up, and even if it stalls, they have the mass of talent to make trades and raise salary for it. As a lifelong Brewer fan who has never been on board to see a winning season (I started watching in '95) , I've never been this excited. The city and state is buzzing about this team. We've always had a strong fanbase... it bothers me that some think that we're fair weather fans. We're not... but there's only so much Selig you can take, you know? There's one thing Mark A. has to do to make Miller Park a constant sellout in 2006. Bring back the glove log. That logo IS Milwaukee baseball. Have a good winter and we'll see you in spring Cubs fans, you better bring it.
